Boom Gallery is a vibrant contemporary Art Gallery located in Rutland St Newtown, Geelong in the former RSS Woolen Mill. Within the gallery are dedicated exhibition spaces, a design gallery, art stockroom and stand alone café. The aim of the gallery is to exhibit the highest standard of contemporary art and design in a space that is dynamic and exciting. The Geelong Gaol is housed in the most intact 19th century prison in Victoria. It opened in 1853 and closed in 1991 in the same conditions that you see today. Visitors can experience the brutal conditions prisoners endured over its 138 year history along with displays telling the history of this three-story bluestone behemoth. Visitor can view the gallows, spend some time in solitary or view some of the items made by the prisoners themselves. Open weekends, school holidays and public holidays
