10 Multi-day Tours in Yucatan Peninsula That You Shouldn't Miss

April 15, 2022 Flossie Demartino

Hidden gems of Yucatan, such as Tulum, Akumal, Chetumal, Chichen Itza and Merida, offer an authentic taste of Mexico. Akumal and more Caribbean-style Chetumal, near the Belize border, deliver delectable white-sand beaches and great snorkelling. Merida, Chichen Itza and Tulum, with their ancient ruins, offer a passage into the Yucatanâs native history. Nature lovers can jungle trek and swim in subterranean sinkholes filled with crystal-clear water. Bike around the ruins and hop between towns in colectivo vans.

10/10 I would do this trip again. My advice would be to go for the 4 hour tour over the 2 hour version because it goes by very quickly. Everyone is unbelievably kind and you taken care of the entire time. If you are looking for a snorkeling trip where you don't have to plan anything, this is the one for you.

I dealt with Pepe for the reservation piece and he was very professional. I traveled with a party of 7 family members. We decided to go with private tours to go at our own pace and have the flexibility of customizing. We took a private tour to Chichen Itza one day and a private tour to Coba and Tulum another day. Manuel was our guide and Jose was the driver and both a pleasure to have. Manuel was extremely knowledgeable.

My wife and I enjoyed this trip immensely but to be honest, the snorkeling was good but not overly exciting. Plenty of fish to see but because there were about 10 boatloads of people all in the same spot, it got really chaotic and took a lot of the enjoyment out of it. Also, Isla Mujeres was not what I expected... so much to do!!! I highly recommend looking into activities ahead of time as you spend about 2 hours exploring the island.... which I didn't realize when I booked the trip. We stumbled upon renting a go cart (which is about $20 an hour) and drove around .... the best experience and highly recommend doing the same. We stumbled upon Punta Sur and LOVED it!! Pay the $3 a person to go out to the point. There are pathways down to the water and wind in and around the cliffs. Overall, this trip was amazing, the boat crew were fun and easy to interact with.
