Intercultura does a fantastic job! This review is kind of 3-in-1 because of all of the different things they offer. I was able to drop in and attend the language school for 5 days. My teacher Dariella was knowledgable, friendly and accommodating. There are students of all ages from around the world at any given time in the summer, which makes a great cultural experience even that much better! My 16 year old was very easily able to start our trip a week in advance of the rest of the family, and see another part of Costa Rica (Heredia) because of Intercultura's original city campus, homestay and teen programs! Then my 14 year old (who couldn't go in advance because of her schedule) was able to join Intercultura at the Samara campus midway through the teen program. The chaperones and other kids were so welcoming and she fell right in with everyone. The kids were busy, engaged, and had some independence in Samara because of their involvement with the school, which was a great way to travel. Their Spanish improved tremendously because of the immersion program.

WOW! What an incredible and unique experience we had here. We had the privilege of meeting Henrik (owner) today and experienced first hand not only how to make chocolate from start to finish (which you get to eat) but also received a phenomenal history lesson on cacao and chocolate making. I could share more but I’d spoil the great experience you’d have visiting and experiencing for yourself. If you find yourself anywhere near Playa Conchal/Tamarindo/Brasilito, this is an absolute must do. This is chocolate in its most purest form. I look forward to bringing my daughter back one day to experience this! ????

Estelar was everything I had hoped it would be. I visited in March 2020 for a Spanish Immersion course, including a homestay with a local family. Bethany runs a world-class operation, and all her staff are wonderful. I had the opportunity to take classes with profesoras Nelly and Mariela, both of whom are excellent teachers. The classes are fun, interactive and dynamic. Reading about Liberia online makes it sound like a busy place, but my experience was a quiet town with easy access to just about everything. My homestay family was wonderful and welcoming, as was everyone I met during my stay. When my visit was cut short due to government-mandated Coronavirus closures, Estelar was able to easily transition the remainder of my course to an online format to help me finish my studies. I am extremely happy with the professionalism, customer service, expertise, and warm, welcoming experience I had with Estelar. As a professional teacher myself, I can recommend them without hesitation, and I look forward eagerly to my next trip to Costa Rica for another course. I'll be back!

While Tamarindo is a messy, noisy, stinky American tourist Mecca, just outside of this town is one of the most delicious hidden gems of Costa Rica's underground chocolate tour, and potentially one of the few reasons to visit this area of the country if you're really seeking the beauty and majesty of the Pura Vida. You see the signs from the road, and you take them, off the main roads and onto a local dirt/gravel road, which most local roads are in Costa Rica. Reina's chocolate is in a little building that looks more like an office building than a chocolate lover's dream. Due to Covid, we had the brilliant opportunity to sit with the owner, who is the husband of Reina, a lovely Tica woman with whom he fell in love and started a second family, and who helps him run his slice of chocolate Heaven. He sat with us like family, gave us samples of his chocolate tea, offered us a palate cleanser (of intentionally watered down coffee!) and we checked off the boxes of the chocolate samples that we wanted to try most, all for $5. I've tasted some of the world's best chocolate (NOT CANDY), and this ranks up there in my top 10 for sure. He's a professional hobbyist, pours every bar himself, and makes the most delicious 80% bar ever (but he also makes the best and truest white chocolate with vanilla bean that I've ever had). His craft and artistry is top notch and if you're interested in learning about chocolate, you'll be lucky to run into him on purpose. If you find your way to Tamarindo, head to Reina's as one of your main stops. It will be an unforgettable experience. Thank you!!!!

To summarize the experience I have with Sally Rice already for 3 years I can say that Authenticity, Humanity and Love, and Light come to my mind.
