Reviewed By Scott MLovely hotel, very friendly staff, just not for me. It is designed as a spa hotel where people can come for a total break. I was on business and it was just a bit too quiet for me. Very pleasant though if this is what you are looking for.

The service at the front desk was fast and efficient, the room very spacious, clean and comfortable (slept like a log). Breakfast starts at 7:30 with everything you could possibly want nicely presented. All in all the Parador en Villalba is a great place to stay.

The best in Vilalba! Perfect for pilgrins
Reviewed By oterinoteI strongly recommend this Albergue if you're doing the Northern Way. It is located on the way and in the city center of Vilalba. It's totally new, super clean and facilities are great. The owners were very nice and helpful. Bed are the most confortable i had during the Way. Every bed has a charger for your devices and also a small place to leave them during the night, close to you. You can get a clean towel for just 1 euro. In the shower there is shampoo for free.

Lacked charm
Reviewed By DJandRStayed one night on our Camino del Norte. This hotel was clean. Everything else lacked charm. Very hot no air conditioning. A wedding reception had occurred hence staff busy and we were an added extra to deal with. Dining room had tv blaring, meal was not memorable. We requested earlier breakfast so that we could walk and beat the heat, this seemed to be unexpected! Reception staff seemed disinterested.

A long long time ago.
Reviewed By Mike HStayed here at Christmas 1990 - yes, 1990! - while cycling round Southern Europe. The place seemed to be run by a mother and daughter (although we only ever got to speak to the daughter) who kindly (I think) let us stay even though we arrived on Christmas Eve when it looked as if they were hoping to have Christmas to themselves. We had virtually no money, and these were the days when you couldn't stick a card in an ATM for cash, and wouldn't have for three days until the banks opened, so we were shown to a dingy cellar bar, somewhere in the town, where we were able to buy sausages to eat (no accompaniment, just sausages). Other than a basic breakfast at the hotel, that was our food for the next few days. We had a room at the front with no heating and a huge window with plastic venetian blinds and holes in the glazing, and it was freezing. As it drew near to Christmas Day, we tried to keep warm and listen to our tiny short-wave radio as the batteries ran down and the words faded out. At midnight we opened small presents our family had packed in our bags, and blew up balloons. We then cried. This review has nothing to do with the hotel as it is now, and we've never been back to that part of Spain - in fact we now live in New Zealand - but it remains as probably the most memorable Christmas we shared. I've given it an Average rating for this reason, although in quality terms at the time, it deserved no rating at all, and in terms of memorability... six out of five undoubtedly. Does it still have the Bar Caracas?
