Superior service and food quality

Reviewed By RafaelCasemiro85

When in town be sure to come and visit this little gem within the Wish Serrano complex. The restaurant has an incredible menu, built by an Argentinian chef whose DNA is noticeably in every detail. The service was superior and extremely enjoyable, mainly by four (you read it right, four!) incredible people who made our visit an amazing experience: Bruna, the hostess, and Carlos helped us getting a nice spot for our 4yo! Matheus and Robert were kind, patient and friendly during our stay. Highly recommend the place for its food and superior service!

Nice Rooms, Bring your own Food

Reviewed By Ljbe610

A few days of rest and relaxation....well, the rooms were large anyway. My wife and I have no words to describe the garbage served for meals at usery prices. But let's start at check in because management should be thrown in the pools then ushered out without towels! Arriving exhausted, a little girl Bruna stood behind the beautiful front desk with the impressive water fall behind her. "This is going to be impressive, I thought." Oi...which means hi in Portuguese. Oi, I replied. "Your name?" Were the next two syllables that came out. (No welcome, great to see you. is this your first visit with us? Just what's your name. But what came next beats any check in I've ever seen or read about. Bruna begins staring at the computer screen while at the same time smelling her wet hair through her nose. I wasn't sure what to say or do. It seemed like a personal moment so I just waited. After what seemed like 10 minutes, she said our room wasn't ready. I told her we actually paid for the night before but were not able to arrive so our room should be ready. She then asked me to see my cell phone reservation. After some time, she called over a colleague who spoke with her for some time then asked if he could take my cell phone to show the manager. "No," I said. Be right back, he said. After he came back, saying nothing to me, he spoke to the girl. Shortly after she asked for our documents. No explanation, still no welcome. So that's what being processed feels like. Hungry, we went to the dining room that closes at 3pm. It was 10 past three. I stood at reception for at least 20 minutes, enough time for us to have made lunch. Back to our closed dining room, Sergio was excellent. He escorted us up to the coffee bar (FYI, it opens at noon. Perhaps another name might be in order.) Order anything you want from the menu, he said. We were delighted. Once at the coffee bar a man finally took our order. A few minutes later Sergio was back to take our order. "We've ordered already, we said.""I know, I need to take your order again, Sergio said." OK, we thought, whatever. After what seemed like about 30 minutes, our drinks arrived WRONG. The drink order was such a mess we settled for soft drinks. Still waiting for food now some 40 minutes later, it arrived finally. WRONG. They had double ordered our ticket but what arrived first was two orders of my plate. My wife, starving by now, ate what they brought. About 5 minutes later, her order arrived. That's 2 and a half orders of food for those keeping track. Things would have been bad enough if the story ended here but it doesn't. Think of pasta that has the consistency of hard gummy bears and sauce that tastes like warm water with ketchup. Then imagine grease filled French fries and tiny pieces of terrible tasting fish like substance served with tarter sauce. My only possible guess is the people who park cars and the chef decided to switch places for the day. Ah well, there's always breakfast, right? WRONG! The following morning my wife and I looked forward to a delicious hot breakfast with coffee. Arriving to the dining room we were met with what looked like a feeding for people who had never seen food. The staff, untrained and incapable of meeting the herds of people pushing past one another for food and coffee, told us to find somewhere clean to sit when we asked them to clean a table in the same zip code as the food was kept. The food...disastrous. Milk for the coffee is placed across a large distance, which one might understand to keep lines moving however, there was no milk! As bottles of orange juice were sloshed into jars, the staff had no time to prepare milk or even put out coffee cups. I did manage to find a Styrofoam cup and drank my coffee black. or tried to. My wife said the food looked so bad, all she brought back was bread and fruit. Greasy meat like sausage, eggs that looked like they went though a war, and oatmeal. We left hungry and disgusted. I highly recommend the drink refrigerator in the rooms and snacks. I survived on cashews the first day. Not wanting to even set foot in the restaurant for any food, the second morning I decided to get coffee at the coffee bar and maybe a biscuit or bread. CLOSED. The coffee bar isn't open in the mornings. I know, room service, coffee, juice and bread!" Not a smart idea either. In a reasonable amount of time came a knock at our door. A tray was set in our room. Filthy plateware with caked on dirt in the saucer for coffee, carrafes that when you poor flood everything with coffee or milk flood the tray and everything on it, but the best, the best....NO NAPKINS NO SPOONS however, we did receive mustard and ketchup plastic wrapped packets. I should have realized I could have used the packets to stir my coffee with. Very creative idea I've not seen thus far in my travels. Bring your own food, coffee maker, napkins, and a lawn chair to sit in for the check in experience. This property is too far from town to run in and out for food each meal yet Wyndham has not only found itself incapable of getting correct food orders into the kitchen, they have no kitchen. I've never seen such a beautiful property with large rooms and views run like a youth hostile. Fire everyone and start over. Whoever is running your property Wyndham needs training and hospitality school along with customer service. Reception staff sniffing thier hair at you saying little to nothing, dirty plates and inedible food, nice rooms with about half the furniture required. Last but not least, thank you for my prison style pull out bed. I'm going to need months of chiropractic treatment after being put on Uncle Fester's Adam's family bed of nails. The mattress is the cheapest you can buy. I've suggested people bring thier own food, now my suggestion for management and ownership. 1 rent space outside your hotel for gourmet coffee and food trucks to park early morning till night for people who can actually taste what they are served. 2. Lease space to several restaurants and use your kitchen for pool towels to be stored in. 3 Hire one of the million hospitality training companies around the world to recruit and train towards consistency. 3a) give Sr. Staff lodging as a perk and have them eat nothing but what guests eat and submit reviews daily. I would only recommend this hotel to people who want to swim and look out a window because everything else is a complete disaster.

The breakfast is amazing and delicious. There is a guy called Marcelo (Marcelo careca) he was great. Gave us the best reception we could have. So kind and helpful. We loved it and we hardly recommend this hotel.

Check if breakfast included

Many Ibis Styles give a free breakfast. This one does NOT on all rates despite a sign at reception saying free wifi and breakfast! They don't tell you at check in. Breakfast is fine if free but I don't think it's worth paying for: really bad coffee. I would have gone outside if I'd known. Otherwise the hotel is fine and like most places at present with the weak Real, good value. Oh, there's a very dangerous drain cover about 10m down Rua Garibaldi from the hotel. Be careful!

2 night stay as a couple. For context, we are locals from Porto Alegre (capital) and were in town to tour a specific group of wineries for an upcoming event. We are also frequent guests of the Marriot chain with elite guest status, having stayed in Marriott properties in 3 continents. Breakfast service was positive with attentive staff and a generous assortment of food and beverages. The downside of the breakfast is that they did not serve ´Cuca´, a traditional cake in the region. Champagne and mimosas at breakfast are great to start the day before visiting the wineries. Apart from breakfast, all of our meals were outside the hotel. We did not use spa, gym or pool services due to our tight schedule. Tip: book a table in advance for the 'Sunset' experience and catch a beautiful sunset at the open air restaurant where a in-house DJ plays some tunes. Now to the negative part of our stay. Sad to say, the room we booked does not meet the Marriott standards we are accustomed to. We stayed in room 514. Dated furniture and decor in the room, bath-towels were torn, and mold and dust present in the air-vents to the point where they present a health-hazard. See the photos in my review for details. Another negative experience is that I reserved a dinner table for 5 with the concierge and invited my brother, his wife and 5 year-old for dinner. When reserving the table, the concierge did not inform me that this is an adult only hotel and we were denied service when my brother and family arrived at the hotel. This was a negative experience for us. Had the concierge inquired about who would be joining me at dinner, we would have avoided the situation. When I asked to speak to the hotel manager about the incident, he offered apologies but that was it. He did not offer to help us reserve dinner at another location. The valet service was positive with the exception of one evening where it was raining and our car delivered in the rain, instead of the covered space. I mentioned this to the valet on duty and that an umbrella is normally offered in a situation like mine. He acknowledged but did not have one on hand. Bed quality is medium where mattress springs are clearly old. Pillows are all the same, and there were no options for sturdier pillows. Towels in the bathroom in poor condition (see photos). Overall we have rated our stay as poor. The value for money is just not there are there are boutique hotels in the same region for the same amount with a 'real' luxury experience. We noticed that the hotel has invested in marketing and that has attracted their customers, but the quality is lacking when compared to hotels from the Marriott Autograph Collection around the world.

I stayed in Hotel Embaixador for several days during a business trip. The location is not far from the university. It's a somewhat seedy section of town, although to be honest, in driving around the center of Porto Alegre I didn't see much that wasn't seedy. The hotel itself is nice. The front desk staff had some difficulty in English; they could check me in, for example, but could not understand my question about laundry. But a quick call to the manager on duty solved the communication problem; there's always one whose English is solid. In fact, the manager was exceptionally helpful and gave me his personal cell in case I had questions or needed assistance while out in the city. Since it was winter, the hotel was far from packed and the restaurant at night had few people. The food was reasonably good although communicating with the waiter was through pointing and hand gestures. The room I had was large and clean, albeit a bit spartan. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good. There is a grocery store two blocks away in case you want to stock your mini-bar.
