10 hotels in Springfield: Best hotel deals for 2023

August 5, 2022 Jacquiline Delozier

Springfield is perhaps best known as the birthplace of basketball and home of the Basketball Hall of Fame. (The story goes that local physical education teacher James Naismith invented the sport to fill the gaps between football and baseball seasons.) But this historic town on the shores of the Connecticut River is famous for a few other reasons and definitely worth a quick jaunt or weekend away. Springfield was the birthplace and home of beloved children's author and illustrator, Theodore Geisel, Dr. Seuss. In fact, the Zoo in Forest Park, a sure hit with the kids, is said to be the inspiration for many of his wild and wacky tales. Wander through the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden, at the Quadrangle, for a look at the Cat in the Hat and Yertle the Turtle cast in bronze. The city served as a major arsenal during the Revolutionary War, a role that is commemorated at the Springfield Armory National Historic Site, which displays an enormous collection of small pistols. History buffs will also enjoy the Connecticut Valley Historical Museum, a tribute to the ordinary people of the region who, during various periods in time, did extraordinary things.

Very poor management

Reviewed By RobL136

Lisa Nai is the General manager. Don’t try to call her however - either she is never in, busy not available or won’t return calls or respond to emails. I had a billing problem. Room rates jumped very high when I extended my stay yet I was not informed of this increase. A token discount was given however as a diamond member and with such poor communication I feel more should be done to satisfy me. I stay over 100 nights a year in hotels, Hilton properties quite often until now. Response from Hilton directly and this hotel has been very poor, well zero. It appears that poor communication here is the general policy. I read the reviews and donor see any management reply’s. Oh well - Marriott has nice properties too. Other wise, clean hotel nice staff.

For Travelers, you really can't beat it.

We drove up from Georgia to Maine, staying at Hilton Operated Properties the whole way, and at $175 for the night (all fees and taxes included) it was the cheapest room price we encountered the whole way. I would not have expected that being in Massachusetts so that was a pleasant surprised. The room cleanliness, front desk service, and bed comfort were all up to the expectations for a Hilton Chain. There was a wedding in the Hotel that night so we were worried about the possibility of the revelers getting out of control but it didn't happen. The location adjacent to the Interstate was our primary priority but it's not the kind of place I'd ever want to be for "a vacation". But for traveling, you simply can't beat it.

Kinda, No Really Awful

Booked two rooms in advance and neither room was available. Neither room was available. There was some explanation provided about the room(s) being occupied by a patient from the hospital across the street who refused to leave. The owner stated that it would take her ten (10) minutes - exact words to clean the room. Considering that the inn had a musty odor and generally looked unkept this concerned me as COVID19 is still rampant. I was not able to get a straight answer from the I guess "owner" concerning the status of the rooms booked, etc. . Because of the condition of the inn - not clean and no protocol for sanitazation - , we left and stayed at a nearby Courtyard (Marriott). The owner claimed that I was a no show and refused to refund my prepayment. I cannot believe the favorable reviews. This place is a mess. I cannot believe that the owner has refused my refund request.

Clean hotel very close to casino

Reviewed By spedteacher2020

We came for business at Westover AFB and decided we wanted to stay close to the casino. The casino was booked so we opted for this hotel. It’s one block from the casino and from leaving our room it only took a few minutes to walk there. The parking is free and they have free breakfast. We didn’t try the pool so we can’t comment on it but the hotel was very clean. We stayed in a king suite and I was happy about that since we traveled without kids and dancers from a competition were staying at the hotel. I felt the king suite put us a good distance from their potential noise. However, the location of this hotel and room can be very noisy anyway. We never heard any of the kids in the hotel but our door was directly across from the ice machine so we would hear large crashes coming from it. There are lots of cars that like to rev their engines and play loud music on the streets surrounding the hotel. The windows did not do a good job of stifling the noise. The staff was really friendly and check-in was smooth. We would stay here again because it was clean, our suite was large, it had a microwave and fridge included, it is like staying on MGM property because it is so close, and it was half the price of the casino.

If you want to sweat...stay here.

Reviewed By Bon L

I have never stayed at a hotel where the temperature of the room didn't go below 72 degrees. Two nights of NO sleep- sweating all night- tonight is our last night and I'm already sweating. There is no full length mirror in the room either- in fact there is only one mirror in the room, which is in the bathroom..making it difficult for 2 ppl to get ready at once. The elevators are beyond slow... The privacy lock decided to engage itself after we closed our door and left- causing us to have to get maintenance to open our door when we got back. Fun. This hotel sort of sucks...I can't wait to go home.
