The eco expeditions we took were led by knowledgeable guides who made the jungle come alive for us with sightings of sloths, brilliantly-colored birds, monkeys and many other animals. And imagine sitting on your balcony at night and hearing the unidentifiable hoots and screeches and knocks and croaks of the jungle. Unforgettable! I loved every minute of my stay here and hope to return.

Reviewed By goncaloluzI stayed here two times in the course of three months. First time for a night, and then came back for a week. The location is beautiful, just by the water. You can literally walk down from any room into the sea in 2 minutes, when the tide is high. You can also sit in a chair and watch the sunrise in the morning. It's silent and clean. All the staff is very warm and welcoming, and so are the owners. Ask for a massage, by the swiming pool, with a view over the bay, it's worth every moment of it. They have this place for quite a while, and run it like a happy family. I love this place. And will surely come back and stay here, if I am ever in Costa RIca again. I love Puerto Jimenez.

Reviewed By brilandhenA great place to commune with and observe nature . There’s no need for curtains as there is no one to see in and no light to shut out. The jungle noises send you to sleep and wake you in the morning. It’s hot but the room is cooled with a fan and fresh air. Toucans,Macaws, squirrel and cappucin monkeys are all around, along with various butterflies including the blue morph. The cabins are kept really clean, food is good and there is a beach 20 minutes away as well as tours etc. Staff friendly and go out of their way to help.

Reviewed By will3666If you are looking for something completely different on your trip then look no further… I’ll start with the location, the hostel is located about 30 mins up hill in the jungle (don’t worry you can leave your main rucksack in the locked office downstairs) and when I say jungle it really is! You’ll see lots of birds ( + a whole lot more wildlife) and be able to enjoy some almost private hikes! On these hikes you can see waterfalls, some amazing views over the jungle and into the ocean! Next let’s talk about the nude part, (this bit is the best) so you do not have to go nude but when you do you’ll really feel the full experience! It’s a very safe place, while I was there we had over 10 guests (including me) go nude, and every guest felt the same, we all felt comfortable and there was no judgment from anybody! You really can feel free in your own body and celebrate you! I really feel this made my stay and I can only recommend you doing the same! Look at it this way, when will you be able to go nude in the jungle again? Thank you again, hopefully I’ll be back soon! Ps, make sure you experience a sunrise from the look out point, you will not be disappointed!

At "Chosa Manglar Nature Retreat" you are GUARANTEED to see WILDLIFE. How certain are we? Well, have you ever sat in a Tropical Lounge and viewed from your chair a Scarlet Macaw, a Monkey or a Kinkajou? You can at "La Chosa". Many guests have said they see more wildlife at "Chosa del Manglar Nature Retreat" than at any other location during their Costa Rica vacation.

Reviewed By 649tiphainecI’ll go straight to facts. When I checked in, the lady at reception took my payment for a room in Chosa Manglar. Then, AFTER THE PAYMENT, she told me that she has 2 rooms available, one at the back and one at the front. Of course, I thought it was 2 rooms in Chosa Manglar, which corresponded to the price I paid, so I answered : ok I will have the one in the front so I can be closer to the raccoons (never even saw one but that’s not the point). So I got the room in the front and was really disappointed, it didn’t look like what I saw on the pictures of my reservation. The room was ugly, the tap barely working, the decoration almost non existent. I would never have paid more than 70 euros for that. The day after, she told me that I actually stayed in Palapa hut and not the Chosa Manglar I paid for. Palapa Hut is half the price of what I paid. I felt scammed. Why didn’t she tell me that there was a price difference between the 2 available rooms? If I knew, I would obviously have chosen the Chosa Manglar room I paid for!!! But she never mentioned the price difference, she let me stay in that cheap room even if I had paid double the price. No compensation was offered, only a rude attitude when I asked about a solution to this problem. I should have trusted all the negative reviews I have read about them. This lady is dishonest and only cares about making money. The rooms are bad and way too expensive. I have stayed in 12 different lodges in Costa Rica, all of them amazing, and this place was the only disappointment. To avoid!!! Worst customer service ever

Reviewed By BRS1962This "Resort" is far from what the pictures show on its website. We were supposed to be there for four days and as soon as we drove up we were shocked at the state of disrepair. When we parked our car we saw a mattress pushed up against a window on the second floor of one of the buildings. The building sorely needed to be painted. Although the pool area and reception were neat, when we went to our room there was a large hole in the screen door. The bedding and towels looked as if they had seen better days. Internet connectivity was virtually nonexistent as we had spotty communications with our travel agent. When we did get in contact with our agent we asked to be moved to another resort nearby. We later found out that Agua Dulce is for sale and has many legal difficulties which may be the cause of the state of the facility. We have been battling this resort to return our funds and yet they keep battling these efforts.

Reviewed By HPVoldenThe Iguana Lodge is a secluded contemporary beachfront resort located south of Puerto Jimenez along the beaches of the Golfo Dulce. The empty beach and surrounding jungle is inhabited by scarlet Mccaw’s, Howler monkeys and other interesting animals. The slower pace of the less frequented Osa Peninsula is calm and relaxing and the Iguana Lodges serene location near the end of the road makes this place enchanting. Service and accommodations at the Iguana Lodge are very good. The staff is friendly and helpful, most are proficient in English. The accommodations are clean and very good. The air-conditioned rooms are essential. The resort features a swimming pool, Yoga instruction and recreation rooms above the pool. They also offer free use of paddle boards and kayaks and other recreational equipment. The restaurant has a view of the beach and offers breakfast. The regular menu offers a wide selection. The daily specials are excellent, great drinks, and the service is wonderful.

All rooms have AC, hot water, private bathrooms, great beds, open air rancho with a full kitchen, jacuzzi, hammock area, and secure parking. All eco tours and sport fishing tours are available. Cabinas Tropicales offers you great value in the heart of Puerto Jimenez, only minutes from the beach and close to the center of town!

Reviewed By jamesguckNice place, roomy and nice rooms with hot shower, aircon and fan. Kitchen and fridge for everybody to use. Free bikes. The owner Marc was very friendly and helpful! He is from Florida so he speaks perfect english. He and his helpful and nice son Lee organized the whole trip to corcovado for us and made our stay a nice experience. They gave us many useful tips for our stay. They now have also two boats to sirena ranger station! So Puerto Jimenez is the best spot to go to the park. They have a bakery, a gas station, two grocery stores and working ATMs. There are not too many permissions to access the park so make shure to get them before you go. We definitely recommend Marcs Place and would love to come again. Don't forget your shoes outside, Laika - the lovely puppy dog loves to hide them ;o) Thank you for your nice place and your advice.
