The Perfect Place to Stay for Your Tiger's Nest Trek

Reviewed By third_day_adventures

Like many folks, we stayed for two nights at Le Meridien Paro Riverfront as a "staging area" for our climb to the famous Tiger's Nest. The hotel definitely delivered on those expectations. The location and grounds are stunning ... right on a beautiful clear river with majestic mountains as the backdrop. All of the rooms have views of the river and the views are a great way to begin and end your day. The rooms were as expected for this type of property - comfortable with well appointed bathrooms. The staff was professional and attentive as one would expect from a Le Meridien Property. The lobby was a terrific place to relax with wonderful views and a bar with cocktails and snacks. The restaurant had an expansive buffet with varied cuisine options ... I enjoyed the full variety while my traveling partner was actually getting over a stomach issue from the days preceding our visit and she was able to find "milder" foods that her stomach could handle. While the Tiger's Nest climb is accessible to a wide range of ages and fitness levels, it is nonetheless strenuous, so we felt that it was important to stay at a hotel property where we could have a comfortable and enjoyable experience so that we could get the most out of our climb. Le Meridien delivered on those expectations. Our room was quiet and comfortable which enabled a good nights sleep. We were able to relax in the pool / sauna / steam room before and after our climb. Perhaps most outstanding was that the breakfast staff - without us even asking - went above and beyond and packed a container full of breads, muffins and fruit for us to enjoy on our climb! Le Meridien Paro is worth the stay regardless of your activities, but for us, it was a particularly good choice which enabled us to be well rested and prepared for our Tiger's Nest trek as well as providing a great place to relax and celebrate our successful climb!

Zhiwa Ling Heritage

A peaceful stay .. could have been better

Reviewed By GauravSinghBisht

This is no doubt a beautiful property around 20-30 min from city's main market. It's quite serene and certainly a good pick for folks, who like nature at its best . My family and I stayed here for 2 days in 3 nearby rooms . Now, here are my two cents Pros- 1. Check-ins were smooth 2. No adjoining rooms/cabins so you do get your privacy Could improve on - Somewhere I see a lag in service standards .. the response time to address guest requests ..bartender not available at the counter .. things like getting the door for the guests(esp when their hands are full).. If/when these small but important wrinkles are ironed out, I believe this property can scale and elevate to intl. standards

A very friendly staff in a very well appointed hotel. Very nice grounds to walk in, and the staff were very helpful. Having a nice fire to sit around for pre-prandial drinks was great, especially as it was winter. The food in the restaurant was really good, and the staff very helpful.

Naksel Boutique Hotel & SPA

Located thirty minutes from Paro International Airport, Naksel Boutique Hotel & SPA is a luxury retreat where the comforts of man and the presence of nature combine for a peaceful escape in the hills of Bhutan. Nestled on the edge of the national forest and the quiet Ngoba Village, Naksel derives its name from the Dzongka translation of 'Forest,' which is only fitting for this Himalayan sanctuary. The main lodge and surrounding cottages of Naksel rest on six acres of apple orchard, nearly 2700 meters above sea level. Each room, cottage and suite boasts unparalleled views of Mount Jumolhari, Taktsang Monastery, Sangachoekhor Monastery, and the Paro valley below. Elaborate hand-carved pillars and beautiful stonework exemplify the essence of Bhutan while tapered mud-brick walls provide insulation and restful silence. Leading Bhutan in energy efficiency, Naksel features LED lighting, highly efficient water heaters, and Swedish under floor heating systems preheated by solar panels. Main construction materials for Naksel are indigenous and locally purchased. Traditional windows, mud-bricks, framework and even furniture were locally crafted here in Ngoba Village, connecting Naksel to the surrounding forest. We offer the following room-categories: 1. Superior-room with two-single-size-beds (7 rooms) 2. Deluxe-rooms with 2 standard-size-beds with balcony (24 rooms) 3. Junior-Suites with 2 queen-size-beds. (5 rooms) 4. Executive-roof-top-suites with one king-size-bed (2 rooms)

Superb Hotel and Spa, and with Views of Tiger's Nest

Reviewed By Gordon T

The Naksel Boutique Hotel is one of the nicest (if not the nicest) hotels in Paro. The dirt road leading up to the Hotel was nothing much to look at - until we reached the end of the road where the Naksel Boutique Hotel was located. The grounds area within the Hotel property was simply immaculate! The main Hotel building is located at the bottom of a hillside and has the restaurant, bar, lounges, front desk and conference rooms. The Hotel rooms are located away from the main building and up on a hillside. Each room has an outdoor balcony with spectacular views of the mountains in the background. The Tiger Nest Temple also can be seen across the valley from the Hotel - Nice! The Hotel has a separate SPA building that has the typical massage rooms, steam room, etc. Our standard hotel room was huge - plenty of room to walk around. There is a nice sitting area right next to the large picture window, mini-refrigerator, coffee/tea station and a work desk with chair. The flat screen TV is located on a stand across from the work desk. The bathroom was nice with tiled walls and full sized bathtub/shower combination. The bathroom floor is also heated - very nice!! The Naksel Boutique Hotel is my recommended choice in Paro - excellent facilities, rooms and service.

Historical hotel with friendly staff

Reviewed By MidcoVincent

We stayed here for 2 nights and had a pleasant stay. The room we had was spacious enough. It was dated but charming. We liked its traditional decoration. The room was kept warm with a space heater. A small heater was also available in the bathroom which was a plus. The water pressure of the shower was good. There was plenty hot water but the water temperature was a bit difficult to adjust. Dogs barking could be heard at night but it was acceptable. The hotel ground was nice. The view of the Rinpung Dzong and Ta Dzong was fantastic. There was an outdoor area where one could enjoy the view across the valley. Unfortunately, it was a bit cold for us to sit outside when we were there. The staff was friendly and helpful. They arranged an early breakfast for us on the day of our hike to the Tiger’s Nest. The food was the usual fare but freshly cooked. Also, ask the staff to show you the small temple on the top floor of the central building which was worth a look.

Bhutan Spirit Sanctuary was our last stop for our 10 days trip in this magical Kingdom. When we arrived at the Sanctuary we were greeted by Oscar and others at the front door. They could not have been nicer and more welcoming! Specially need to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Thinley, the TCM Doctor. Her Therapy not only treat our body but our mind as well. Together with Chef Barash, we consider him the best chef during our trip in Bhutan. His dishes were delicious, beautiful and creative. We stayed 3 nights, a place we do not want to leave as they made us home. Highly recommended, an all inclusive experience that all therapy, laundry, and activities are in the package.

Yet, we have come to realize that in the flux of ever changing demands, experience falls far short of the need of the times. Today, as the world transforms, so must we, always keeping abreast of that change. Accepting it as our biggest challenge and confronting it head-on. This is because we owe it to our most valued age-old clients and to those that want to come aboard with us and test new waters. All we have to say is ‘Yes’ you’ll find us there,’ in the way you expect us to be to suit your need for a true break from what consumes your everyday lives, and give you something different – something, the memories of which will act as a salve against every tension that besieges you as you get back to the concrete jungle.Kichu Resorts is thoughtfully placed in the most idyllic settings to cover western and central Bhutan, the most sought destination of visitors worldwide. Our resorts are presently created in Paro, Wangdiphodrang and Bumthang with the explicit operandi of offering you the best of Bhutan. Kichu Resorts is an offspring of International Treks and Tours that pioneered the business of tourism in Nepal almost four decades ago. We have moved on since, relinquishing the plaudits of experience to honing ourselves to the expertise that is called upon by what our clients want today. Change is the call of the time in politics, socio-cultural reawakening and pretty much everything else. The only difference, or rather the deciding factor, is that in the service sector like tourism change is transparent; the tag of accountability hinged directly upon the business. What we can pompously boast about at Kichu Resorts is that we are naturally friendly; we don’t try to please, it is real. We are about a friendly opulence that blends with the surroundings as to be almost non-distinguishable because that is not what we want. We are about getting you lost in lavish rooms, suites, independent cottages where you have at your beck and call disciplined and attentive people with genuine big smiles. In the three picturesque valleys, our resorts merge in as part of the package from where familiarity is the advantage with which you begin your explorations. We have set bars with the ambiance of each valley; elegant mountain dining that is almost ambrosial to the place and pampering spas that will melt away the tensions of the real world. Our restaurants run the gamut of offering s from spicy Bhutanese cuisine to the continental and of course, the secret recipe of the valley itself. We want to attract and welcome people who want the very best and in return want their acclaim as a resort that delivers just that. All we have to say is ‘relax, you’re home’ and all we expect that you will come home more often.A new paradigm – the Kichu Resorts wayKichu Resorts is where the adventure and exploration begins. It is our vision that you are setting out from home into a new dimension of discovery. Tourism, given the time constraints, is today all about seeing as much as possible within the shortest time allowed. It is about having fleetingly been through a nation without actually getting any insight into what could well be called having known a place or its people. In the case of Bhutan, a night halt or a day spent in a district falls far short of what is there to see and absorb. By choice of location, Kyichu resorts offer districts that encapsulate the history of Bhutan in hundreds of temples, time-warped life styles, culture and tradition, environment and more. We specialize in short excursions to day-long trips that give you the opportunity to capture the very essence of the nation in its entirety. And at the end of fruitful day of total immersion, we are there to welcome you home again.
