The dinner was worst ever

Reviewed By 373sveing

We looked forward for a nice dinner in the lovely surroundings, but we’re extremely disappointed. The food was so bad that we started laughing. We had fried shrimp for a starter - we could barely eat it. The we had meat for main course- leather quality of the entrecôte and could not finish the meal. The side dishes were horrible as well. Additionally, the staff was totally off. 62 euro for 2 persons for this “food” ….. a total ripoff.

Good location and ambience

Reviewed By Susan M

Good location in the centre of town. You can pay for nearby parking or for a 5-10 minute walk, free parking. Ambience of the hotel excellent, rooms spacious and well equipped, lovely hot water and warm air for the winter months. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Good, varied choice for the breakfasts and the attached restaurant also good value for money . Hotel-wise, a wonderful experience. Not the hotel's fault, but I wish the town hall would turn off the cathedral/church bells that continued to sound on the hour throughout the night.

Two lovely beaches close together

Reviewed By N260FHjohns

We have visited both La Zenia and El Capitan beaches a few times over the years and both are excellent. Best time of day to visit in the summer is around 4pm when most of the tourists have gone and the sun isn't too strong. The beach has a shallow entrance into the sea so is very safe for younger children. There are watch towers that fly flags if the current is strong or on the rare occasion there are sharks close to the beach.

Golf spoiled by very slow play and inept staff

Reviewed By charliebS9796TQ

Played here July 2020. Tee’d off late afternoon and by the second tee I had caught up a 2-ball in front of me who explained that they would not let me through as there was a 4 ball in front of them. Regularly tried to contact the marshal to ask if he could speak to the 4 ball who were refusing to let anyone through but did not hear back from him. Walked off after it took 4 hours to play 15 holes. I contacted the club the next to ask if they could arrange a discount etc for me to return which was declined as they claimed pace of play was acceptable as I finished within 4hrs 30mins and the reason for my poor experience was due to COVID-19 and staff still being on furlough. Such a shame that such a good golf course was spoilt by inept staff who refused to accept the issues I experienced and wouldn’t do anything to fix this. I would say the golf course is special but the experience didn’t meet what is to be expected of a high quality club.

Lovely little spot

Reviewed By Garreth N

We stopped here for two nights to shorten the journey we were taking. We got a standard room and it was huge. The swimming pool was well kept and the staff were brilliant. They were so friendly and really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at home. It is quite a big complex and so you can walk around and see some very interesting antique farm equipment.

Unique place for Rest & Recuperation

Reviewed By Fauts

This was our 6th visit to ‘The Olive Mill’, that in itself is a recommendation. We agree with everything other reviewers have mentioned, great food, superb sangria & cocktails, comfortable accommodation, even the knives are sharp enough for you to create a decent meal, if you want to (we have always found this very rare in holiday accommodation). So thought I would give you a feel of what we love about this place. This accommodation is pretty unique. I would describe this as the facilities of a private villa with your own private accommodation (per couple) combined with the option for self catering, fully catered for or a mixture of the two. We choose the latter, sort our own breakfast & lunch but thoroughly enjoy being catered for in the evening. Generally we book with friends so take over the guest facilities, ie, pool, gardens, bar area, boules court & darts. However most of our time spent here relaxing around the pool, enjoying the sunshine & watching the amazing sunsets & night skies either from our loungers or from the bar whilst Ricardo (Richard) is cooking for us on the wood BBQ, the smell of the wood burning (and the food) is wonderful, he makes a great paella. Heather & Richard are wonderful hosts & are around if needed but give you space to enjoy your holiday. They are great company, have a good stories to tell & will make every effort to make you stay what you want it to be. Ruby (their dog) is pretty cute, absolutely no trouble, just likes to say hello but is kept away if you are not a dog person. The Olive Mill is pretty remote so a car is recommended if you are wanting to get out & about. La Murada is a small town but has everything you need locally, Heather will give you opening hours, they like a Siesta. The Sunday market is fun & there are local bars & even a curry house if you fancy a meal out. It is very Spanish so don’t expect the locals to speak English. We enjoy the experience of joining in & trying to make ourselves understood. Nearest beach is probably just over 1/2 hour drive. Heather has a book of several places to visit nearby although the temptation is to stay put & enjoy the R & R.

Excellent apartments but too many rules and no fun for the kids.

The complex is great quality , well built , the apartment is brilliant so is the swimming pool but but but.. the complex is patrolled by a female guard who does not allow any fun in the pool , no li-lo's, no balls,no water tennis , no bats , no jumping in the pool , no diving, no messing about , no fun nothing that resembles sport or fun , but your allowed to swim , which is great if your training for the Olympics but really poor for the kids . So if you have kids and want them to enjoy themselves I would strongly suggest you book elsewhere, we spent every day at the beach .. having fun with balls , bats , surf boards .. , we wont be coming back here...
