Fair camping next to Orsova
Reviewed By Péter MGenerally you don't go to Orsova for weeks, people make a stopover here for a couple of days on the way. This camping is perfect for this. 10 minutes by car from Orsova, but there is no reason to go there, you can find everything close to the camping. Some small shops, a good restaurant, ang a georgeous landscape. The camping is nice, well equipped, but unfinished, and some more maintaiance woud be good. But overall you won't regret

Reviewed By simonav416The location is great. The room was spacious and clean. Nice furniture and discreet. Great view of the Danube. Friendly and welcoming hosts. We really felt very relaxed. The restaurant has fresh food and has a nice terrace with a view. We did not try the pool as the weather was already cool, but it sure looked very inviting. We will definitely return.

It's all about the view...
Reviewed By Catalina TI would like to start by saying that not many people know about this corner of the world, which is absolutely wonderful, maybe because the area is chaotically and little developed, which is sometimes a good thing as mass tourism can ruin its natural beauty. "Casa Ana Serena" is a small gem, ideally located in this area called "Cazanele Dunarii" ("Danube's Boilers), which is in fact a canyon formed by the River Danube, where the Danube had strong currents causing the water to look like it was boiling. This was before the river's course was regulated decades ago. The only way to reach "Casa Ana Serena" (and this beautiful section of the Danube) is by car. There is a train station in Orsova (a town located 10-15 km away), but I don't know if there are any minibuses to Eselnita. First of all, I should say that it is built right on the bank of the Danube, and for this reasons it has 3 flights of stairs going down to the yard where there is a beautiful little garden and a deck with garden swings overlooking the gorgeous entry into the "Small Boilers". It is such a peaceful feeling to look at such beauty, away from the street noise, with good music playing softly in the background (from an 'oldies' radio station), I would stare for hours at that view. All your problems just vanish. Going back to Earth now :) and more practical things, it has 3 parking space, which are about enough because there only 5 or 6 rooms. All the rooms have beautiful views of the Danube, and some have balconies with a table and two chairs. The rooms are large, clean, furniture in good condition (this was our second time there and we stayed in 2 different rooms). Rooms on the right side have no air conditioning but they don't need any, not even in summer (we slept with the door open, as it had a mosquito net, and it was perfect in August, at 36-38 temperatures in daytime). The bathroom has a shower and towels, toilet paper and soap are provided (but bring your own shampoo, shower gel etc). There is a large kitchen, with fridges and stoves, and an indoor area where you can have breakfast/lunch/dinner, but you have to make your own as they do not serve any meals here. From there, you go out into the garden, where there is big barbecue, several long wooden tables and benches for eating outside in summer days, and a few beach loungers. Then, there is the deck with garden swings, and even a small pool. So, if you want peace and quiet and gorgeous views, at reasonable prices, this is the place to go. The owners are very nice, and they give their guests space to enjoy their holidays. I wish you incredible holidays wherever you may go!

WORST "Hotel" EVER
Reviewed By cristianmsklupayd 960 RON for 3 nights ~ 200 EURO for one room with double bed. After first night we had to run away from there because - DUST, lots of DUST inside those rooms which are chalets not real rooms - i could hear and FEEL anything that other neighbours were doing during the night so only 2 hours of sleep I don' recommend to anyone this place.

Too expensive for the service

A small parking zone and the personal is not so friendly But the view is very nice and they also have a little pool for the kids. For a weekend it's a nice place to stay, but I don't recomand it

Authentic experience for a reasonable budget
Reviewed By joannastagWe arrived very late (around 3:00 am) and the guest accommodated us no problem. We booked a 2 twin beds and a sleeping sofa plus another room with a double bed. The guest, "Domnul George" is very hospitable an knows a lot about the area. The guesthouse is located on the Eselnita River, in a very private, nature-like setting. The place is very small, suitable for groups and nature-lovers.There was an outdoor kitchen with all utilities for preparing meals. The coffee and the great conversation was "on the house". I personally value this kind of experience where you can connect directly with local people who own the place you stay rather than the "great hotel service" experience offered by hotel staff. We were recommended a boat tour on the Danube's Cazanele Mici (i. e. "the Boiling Cauldrons") starting point the Decebalus Bridge, by Mraconia Church - Tabula Traiana - Cazanele Mici (i. e. "the Boiling Cauldrons")- pestera Ponicova - Orșova (the Information Point is right before the Decebalus Bridge, on 57 Road). Arriving in the dark, we were pleasantly surprised by the impressive rock carving of an ancient king, comparable in size with the ones from Mt. Rushmore. We were told it is the work of a local man, "Dragan" who took on the project when he was well in his 80s and did it all by himself.

Dinner disapointment
Reviewed By Radu PExcellent location, fantastic view, wonderful restaurant but the food was not good. We come to such a nice restaurant with hopes to eat fish, fish and fish. Unfriendly staff announcing there is no more fish like they want to get rid of us. Finally they found 2 portion of grilled fish - but harshly bitter, obvious cooked over a too hot charcoal. I had a tasteless chicken schnitzel assorted with cold french fries. The only nice food was a portion of pork leg. What a failure!
