Just the perfect mix of peace and beauty

My favorite part of the stay was the food. This is unusual because the Bahamas is not known for food. Devin, the chef at La Bouganvillea, is a humble soft spoken man who cooks up wonders in his seaside kitchen. The lobster tacos were amazing. Oh, and don't miss trying the best burger in the Bahamas. The environment Tom created is an eclectic mix of Bahamian and Asian designs. This tasteful combination made me feel relaxed and embraced. I enjoyed immensely sitting out back listening to the ocean, feeling the gentle breeze all while being taken care of by a great staff.

Incredible Potential

This property has all the makings of a truly unique and worldclass resort. But it really needs some TLC. The first room I checked into was was 2 bedroom ocean front, and it left a lot to be desired. I changed rooms to a 3 bedroom villa that was so much better (frankly I would have left if I didn't change rooms). Even though the villa was beautiful, it just has not been kept up with. A little love and focus on the details (and things working) would go a long way. The first couple days I had Chester as the villa butler, and frankly, he just wasn't great. Nearly everything I asked for was a "no" - it felt like he defaulted to saying no rather than trying to figure out solutions. He did not see details - I had to ask him to clean things up multiple times and point out obvious issues like the fridge leaking and the kitchen being dirty. BUT, everything changed when Nicole became the new butler. Hands down Nicole is the single best customer service and friendly experience I've had at a resort. She proactively saw and fixed every single detail. Even things like breakfast were 10x better with Nicole. She really gets customer service and wants to make the best experience possible for guests. I'll continue coming back and I am hopeful that things will get better with time, it seems like they are indeed aware of problems and are going to do a new renovation soon.

The Resort's location on the island makes it an ideal base from which to explore the rest of Eleuthera. We even have Bonefish Graham's "Rainbow Guide" to bonefishing on Eleuthera. Our waterfront area with its seaside tennis court and some of the best snorkeling on the island (one of the sites on the Jean-Michel Cousteau Bahama Out island Snorkeling Adventures) will provide hours of enjoyment for the whole family! The vibrant and colorful The Sunset Cove and Rainbow Room and its Rainbow Bay Club is a historic property on Eleuthera Island that has seen many transformations since it was built in the 1970. Once a Restaurant with a bed and breakfast, and then a rental property, the boutique hotel now serves as one of the most casual-sophisticated small resorts on Eleuthera Island. The property features 15 uniquely decorated rooms with three different level: Deluxe, Superior and Standard for the convenience of our guest-friends, a pool and beautiful Bahamian park overlooking the Caribbean site. The restaurant at the hotel are among the best on the island and, if you’re feeling like a stroll, there is the famous Rainbow Beach just a few minutes away from the property, or you can snorkel directly from the rocks at property. Please note that our Cottages have been kept deliberately in the decoration and style of the 70s, some guests love to feel the "old Bahamas", so please book the cottages only if you really like the old feeling. If you like modern and upscale Luxury suites, we recommend you reserve one of the Luxury brand new suites 4* Hotel. For any additional question please feel free to ask.

Too Expensive

Staff was very friendly and helpful and they even have their own herbal rum liqueur -- Bahamaro. We selected this property because it offered kitchenettes but we got only a small fridge. One large room with Queen and single bed and old shower. Water pressure was uneven so we often had spurts from the taps. Beds were hard and pillows were lumpy. We had just come from a beachfront 2-bedroom cottage with full kitchen in South Palmetto Point that actually cost much less than Sunset, so we weren't impressed with our room. The pool and pool area are fabulous and the restaurant and bar are very nice. Had very nice Vegetarian 8-slice pizza for $28.

Amazing time

Not my first Bahamas trip, favorite place so far will definitely be coming here every year. Our party of 9 stayed in two of the villas side by side, joined by family that came in on a Catamaran and docked in the marina. Staff is great, friendly and accommodating. Location is beautiful secluded area with great support from resort amenities- nice restaurant with varied menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner overlooking the Caribbean sea with gorgeous sunsets and fantastic cocktails. Sunset beach is steps from the restaurant and a great place for a leisurely ocean swim. Worth getting snorkel equipment for the week at OIO onsite or buy it at the dive shop also onsite. Everywhere you go you have coral and fish to enjoy. We rented a boat for the week and at the last minute added having a captain. SO WORTH IT. Captain Mario took care of everything and knew all of the best snorkeling, dive fishing, bottom fishing spots. Had LOTS of fresh fish each day for dinner and fished 5 out if seven days. Great times grilling out by the back verandas in the evening as the sun sets and enjoying the friendly atmosphere of the marina. Fourth hole - just down the coastline - quick 5mins in car or 20min walk -is amazing. Fantastic coral heads with so very many fish. Shallow parts and deeper parts to suit all comfort levels. Trip to the sandbar was fun, saw a giant starfish. Don’t miss Friday nights at the outside bar with the band- great fun! The Market is an unusually well stocked grocery store on the island that delivers - we had food for the week waiting in our villas when we arrived and same day delivery as we needed to fill in. Loved that the villas are equipped with washer/dryers. There were TVs in the villas, who cares, didn’t turn them on once. All in all great way to enjoy unspoiled Eleuthera.

We have Visited a few times now. And if Harbor Island is Nantucket and this is Martha’s Vineyard. Quaint charming picket fences. Ship lap with nautical restaurants overlooking the beautiful boats that come through. With travelers from all over the world in the fisherman shopping for the lobster. Golf cart by the most beautifully taken care of yards and Victorian homes that are so charming with their coastal appeal. And truly one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
