Restaurant was awful

Reviewed By W1350GZ

The restaurant was awful originally he told me 15 mins turned into 45+ mins & still no food so he had to get me a refund. I only ordered a small pizza and a calzone and it wasn’t busy at all. Screaming kids all in the main areas like an amusement park. Suites where nice and clean and beds where comfortable. The manager did make it right though about the restaurant experience at lease.

Stay away from Earth Tower!

Reviewed By William N

I’d like to preface by saying I love Mohegan Sun and it’s one of our favorite places! We normally stay in the Sky Tower, which is beautiful. As usual, I booked three Sky Tower rooms for this Memorial Day weekend. I asked the front desk for rooms close by and if two of them could connect. She was so helpful and really went out of her way. After some searching she offered a 2 bedroom suite and the other room down the hall - I was ecstatic! She never mentioned it was in the Earth Tower, but since I have never stayed there, I figured we’d give it a try. What a mistake! The lobby of the Earth Tower was filled with people (mostly rowdy teenagers), the elevators were filthy and the room looks like a dormitory. A room like this does not warrant the prices they charge. I cannot believe Mohegan Sun would make a tower that felt so much like what I imagine a budget hotel to be like. And it’s not in a convenient location, but that I do not fault them for. I will never stay in the Earth Tower again. After taking a very big hit in the casino, I would’ve appreciated coming back to a nice room.

Wonderful staff at this property

Reviewed By nash0tel

As a Platinum Elite Marriott member, I stay in a lot of Marriott hotels. This has hands down been one of my very best experiences. The nice lady who checked me in on the afternoon of 6/9 was extremely kind, welcoming, and informative about the lounge access. Shantel who works the night shift is an absolute gem. She let me know late at night that I could grab a complimentary water because the lounge was closed at that time. Later, I had really bad insomnia and she was helpful in explaining the parking situation at the hotel, and that they could accommodate me if I needed to leave my rental car there in case of an emergency. Finally, when I enquired about the laundry services, she not only helped me get quarters for the machine, she gave me some extra detergent and dryer sheets that they had behind the desk. I think that Shantel and the others at this property embody a standard of hospitality that goes above and beyond and goes the extra mile. I feel lucky to have chosen this property during my stay in Stamford and would recommend it to anyone.

The General Manager on our last day was phenomenal. She recommended me some places to check out while in town. Will be back next Month

Nice stay

We were in the area for a short, last minute trip to mystic. This Hilton family hotel is about 20 mins from mystic but very close to the casinos. There is not much around besides a Dunkin’ Donuts across the street but the casinos provide many food choices. Hotel is clean but it is starting to see its age. For instance the bathroom is clean but worn so not matter how clean it is, it doesn’t look it as it is old. Pool is indoors but was cold the night we used it. Hot tub is small but kids enjoyed it. I use the fitness centers on our trips and this one was small but had the multi station and dumbbells which I use the most. Staff is very friendly and helpful, from the front desk to maintenance and dining area. If we were to go the casino area again we would stay here.

A little dated but overall, pretty good. Would stay again.

Reviewed By jeffr451

Quick summary: Clean. Pretty good location. Great for traveling with dogs. Breakfast was as expected. Hotel itself is a little dated. Staff was helpful. Overall, would stay again. More detail: Although the hotel is a bit dated, the outside, lobby, and rooms are clean which is what really matters. Rooms don’t have digital key yet so you’ll have to stop by the front desk and use a key card to access your room and the building from any entrance but the front; I like the convenience of Hilton’s digital key but I honestly did not find the lack of it to be a big deal on this stay. There’s a pet area outside for dogs and I saw at least two others during our overnight stay. Breakfast is the standard Hampton Inn fare and there’s coffee available in the lobby all day but, if that’s not your thing, there’s a Dunkin Donuts right next door. You’ll have to drive to any of the touristy things like Olde Mystic Village, the Museum, the Aquarium, or downtown Mystic but the drive is quite short no matter where you’re headed. There’s a large parking lot by the museum (about 10 minutes by car from the hotel) where you can park for $10 a day and walk or take a shuttle into downtown. The one negative I have is that the pillows really lacked any support at all. I slept on two stacked on top of each other and felt like I had one kind of flat one under me. They probably need to be replaced at this point. That being said, by the time we came back into the room and were ready for bed, I was so tired that I passed right out but I figured this was worth noting for you sensitive sleepers out there. Neutral: the first floor rooms look right out into the parking lot so I would get a second or third floor room if I return.

The Goodwin Hotel

The Goodwin story began in 1881, when two brothers, James J. Goodwin and Rev. Francis Goodwin, developed this classic structure as a landmark apartment building. Originally developed as an upscale apartment building and later converted to a hotel, The Goodwin was a classic and prestigious address from the start. With a star-studded history, characters like J.P. Morgan resided there during visits to his hometown, and it has retained its sophistication and appeal ever since. The hotel was converted in the late 1980s in conjunction with the Goodwin Square project, its façade was preserved from the apartment building, and has become an iconic Hartford landmark. For its 2017 rebirth, The Goodwin will exude a vibrant City style, while retaining elements of its history, heritage and tradition to demonstrate the authentic character that makes it so special. Guest rooms have been re-imagined. Interior spaces have been thoughtfully designed as welcoming gathering areas. Original fireplaces remain, built-in wood closets restored. The entire staff has been classically trained in the lost art of service and hospitality. And a world-class brasserie adds to the unmistakable Goodwin experience. Cosmopolitan and urban-chic…yet grounded in a timeless and rich history. Welcome to the only boutique hotel in Hartford.

Did Not Meet Expectations

Reviewed By juliehA6619GJ

Unfortunately it seems that the Goodwin was a much nicer place to stay pre-Covid! I was really excited to stay in a historic hotel, but it did not deliver. There were several disappointments. 1. No parking lot, parking garage, or valet service. We had to find street parking. 2. No breakfast. A coffee bar was available and it was good tasting coffee! But nothing to eat. 3. Our room felt like a dark dungeon. There was no outside window. The window it had overlooked the hotel lounge. The walls and ceiling were dark tones and the lamps were not bright, so being in the room in the daytime just felt sad and dungeon-like. There was no carpet anywhere in the room either, adding to the basement-like feel. The bathroom was very nice! 4. The beautiful hotel lounge seating area was closed off. Since there was so little to do and enjoy, we were eager to leave. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I hope that the hotel gets back to it’s old self soon so future guests can enjoy their stay more!

Past its prime

Reviewed By Brend482

Like many buildings in Hartford, this Hilton was probably nice decades ago, but it has not been well-maintained. Paint is faded and even cracked in places. The elevators are rickety. There have been cosmetic improvements in places, like new sink surfaces, but the wood drawers below the sink are chipped and dented. There is new equipment in the fitness room, but the room itself is tiny. The property is well-located in the heart of Hartford, but it was fairly pricey for such an outdated hotel.
