Comfortable and clean
Reviewed By Yvonne KWe stayed 2nts in a two double bed room facing the National Palace Museum. The room was cosy and not tight but definitely not spacious. The hotel newly opened in the last year and feels fresh, bright and clean. We enjoyed a quick lunch in the lobby cafe, their lobby bar opens until about 11pm where you can relax with a drink and catchup on any work. We ate at the dinner buffet which had a variety of options but mostly asian cuisine and the quality and taste were just ok. It would be good if there was more focus on special cuisines from Chiayi for example turkey rice. It was a tiny bowl of dried looking turkey on offer. Because the hotel is in a currently remote area we have to travel to try a turkey rice, the hotel could offer a good turkey rice as part of their buffet. A car is ideal if staying at this hotel. We drove 20-30mins into Chiayi town for night markets, turkey rice and some tourist sights like the Alishan train museum. About 5min walk behind the hotel is a family run local breakfast place with outdoor seating. It was certainly a convenient walk across the road to visit the National Palace Museum, 2min drive to the old Sugar Factory and not far from the hwy exit. My kids enjoyed the play room and we would certainly stay again next time we visit Chiayi. We hope that this hotel can maintain it’s level of cleanliness as the years go by.

Reviewed By Moritz C這次住這是因為出差地點的關係，聽飯店的名字應該知道，這絕不是商務飯店的風格，沒錯，這算是適合親子旅遊的飯店，位置剛好在嘉義太保故宮南院的正對面。 這間飯的的裝潢風格、顏色、塗裝、裝飾都是走類似樂高積木的風格，裡面甚至有積木遊戲室，適合家長帶小朋友來遊玩，飯店房間大小居中，清潔也OK，只是沒有衣櫃我有點不習慣，只有短短的吊桿及兩支衣架子......，浴室空間不大，是淋浴設備。 飯店周圍除了對面故宮南院跟隔壁長榮文苑酒店外，大概只有飯店樓下有一間7-11可以逛，要吃飯或逛街，就有點不方便了。 飯店的早餐分個人套餐或是自助早餐兩種，我猜入住率低時，就採用個人套餐，會在前一晚先詢問隔天幾點用早餐，是要西式還是中式，如果入住率高的話，就會採開放式的自助早餐，不過不管是哪一種，都還算不錯。 櫃檯的服務接待表現尚可，沒有特別的熱情或冷漠。飯店的建築物本體只有3層樓，但戶外停車場卻非常大，距離也有點遠，整個飯店的邊界範圍算很遼闊，感覺像在重劃區圈地一樣。 如果想來故宮南院旅遊2~3天，但又不想花高額費用住長榮文苑的話，棒棒積木飯店或許你可以考慮。

Clean, simple hotel
Reviewed By meowoStayed at this hotel for 1 night on 26 Jun 2018. Room is clean with toiletry, cable tv, coffee & tea. Hot and cold water dispenser is located on every floor. There is no lift in this hotel. Breakfast is simple porridge with side dishes. Toast are also provided. Hot shower is only available from 6pm till 8am daily. Location of this hotel is just beside the 1st parking lot. It is also within a short walking distance to the shopping district and train station. The hotel is operated by a couple and they are friendly. Although the couple may not be managing the reception counter often, the vegetable stall seller outside their hotel are also helpful in giving us advice.

Standard local hotel, good enough to stay for a night
Reviewed By irenzrWe went through countless review for Alishan hotel and come across this one at reasonable price. It is turned out to be better than what we expected. Location was good, it is right next to Shurmuh International Hotel which is the first hotel you will reach when you arrive at Alishan. Hotel name is a bit tricky though, make sure to look for Maria Hotel instead of Mei Li Ya (I think Mei Li Ya is how they pronounce it in Chinese). It is located behind Information Center and is about 5 minute walk to Alishan Station. It is a standard local hotel, so my suggestion is to lower your expectation. Front desk staff, a guy, was friendly and trying to help us despite his limited English skill. He even uses the translation application on his phone to answer some of our question. We can communicate with him just fine without any problem during our stay. Hotel also provide coupon for breakfast at another restaurant which taste just okay for me. To find the restaurant, look straight to the stairway where the left one lead you to 7-11 and Alishan Station, take the right one and it will be the first restaurant up there. Our room was okay. It was not as dusty and horrible as we've read in the review but there is no way to take a shower without splashing water all over the bathroom. However, they provide you an electric blanket which will keep you warm at night (we went there in late Oct, it was 14 degree or less) and it could be the best thing you could've asked for there. I'm not saying it's great. But this one could easily be one of the best hotel you can get consider the price and limited option in Alishan area.

A Good Place to Stay or Not!?
Reviewed By 62aulIt is a beautiful hotel, and it is very convenient for attractions in Alishan. Staff at the front desk are very nice and helpful. However, we will not choose this hotel again if other options available. (1) This hotel is very expensive! However, their service is far from satisfactory. It seemed that they never vacuum clean the floor, hair and dirt had stayed at my room and corridor from the day I stayed. (2) We stayed there 3 nights, the price included buffet breakfast and buffet dinner. However, the food was just so and so. The average expense for 1 night in Alishan House would allow us to have a big feast both breakfast and dinner in a very nice Japanese hot spring ryokan! (3) Taiwan is under a strict mask policy, especially in restaurant. All hotel guests are told to wear masks and disposable gloves when leaving their dining tables to take food. However, some staff in restaurant and coffee shop who served food for guests wore their masks halfway from their nose or even under their mouths. Alishan is really a beautiful place and worth visit again, but lodging really is a headache!

Reviewed By Sean_Ian-Taipeiwe stay 1 night when we visit relative near the town. Public transportation is not good here so please don't expect to move around the city without a car. There is a 7-11 convenient store next to the hotel which is a plus. Easy and fast check in. Clean and good size room. Staff doesn't speak english at all but are all nice and friendly. Bathroom is clean and stable hot water. Breakfast is just average but good enough for the price. will stay again if coming back here.

Alishan National Scenic Area is the perfect Taiwan tourist destination for a touch of nature. A number of scenic trails and hiking routes are established by its localized climate and landscape offering unique range of lush plant-life and fascinating sceneries that are always wonderful to explore. Gon-A-Kam Trail, Fenruei Trail, Fentai Trail and the famous Mt. Da Tong Trail are in Fenchihu area, where guests may simply visit while accommodating at Fenchihu Hotel. Also, the renowned sunrise views at Mt. Da Tong Peak which set 1,976 metres above sea level provides an excellent spot for sunrise and sea of clouds sceneries, and about 330 degrees panoramic views overlooking nearby tribes and forests. What is more special about the sunrise sceneries at Mt. Da Tong Peak that is the dawn here lasts longer than Alishan and sometimes even up to 3 minutes and 20 seconds! Other fascinating Fenchihu attractions include Bright Moon Cave (Min Yue Ku), Meteor Cave (Liushinyen) and The Eighteen Arhats Cave can be seen along the hiking trails for a marvelous Fenchihu travel.
Free Guided walks
Reviewed By YeoFamilyOur family of 5 stayed at Fenchihu Hotel for a night before moving up to the Alishan recreational area to watch the Chusan sunrise. At approx 1500 metres above sea level, it was good we stopped there overnight to acclimatise before embarking to Alishan at 2500 m as some family members started to have altitude sickness symptoms. The hotel is a typical old style chinese hotel ( tampering expectations is advisable ) but it has a few standout factors - it's location is unbeatable. Beside train staion n with a 7-11 attached and right beside the old street with eateries, quaint shops n close to walking trails. Fenchihu is a little town comprising probably of 2 streets n a railway station n walking trails ; but is totally charming . Their aiyu jelly n basil drink is made from fresh Aiyu fruit, n their millet mochi n freshly baked donuts were delicious. - the family room was large and they allowed an extra bed with breakfast for Twd 600 so we could all share a room. A considerable saving if one doesn't mind sharing one toilet. Room price is good too. - Reception staff are efficient and can communicate in good English. -best of all, they provide guided walking tours 3x/day absolutely free of charge. We did the firefly walk n it was magical Christnas night experience. Fenchihu has rare fireflies that may appear in winter although the best time to go is Autumn(according to guide) . The morning walk in the unpolluted chilled forest was great too. All in all, a good traditional hotel for a night's stopover with value added free tours in a charming highland town. Reccomended
