Great beach and pools, amazing staff, but in start-up mode
Reviewed By SilverSpring25The hotel is 30 minutes from Cartagena's historic center. It costs 50,000 Colombian pesos (about $12) one-way to go into town. If you're looking for relaxation, to be away from it all, great beach and pools, then this is the place for you! If you mostly want to visit the historic center, then consider a hotel closer to it. You can still do both, but keep in mind the round-trip costs of taxis. Our overall impression is that the hotel is still in start-up mode and therefore several services and amenities are not yet in place and staff need additional training. Nonetheless, hotel staff are extremely friendly and courteous, cater to guests' needs, and are dedicated to making sure that guests feel welcome and are happy during their stay. We really appreciated their dedication and efforts! There are few dining options at the hotel, particularly for dinner when there is only one restaurant, which didn't give us a lot of choices. This is particularly frustrating and limiting for those with dietary restrictions. In addition, the only restaurant open for dinner had a dress code, which is not reasonable particularly when guests are tired and do not feel or want to dress up. The only alternative offered by the hostess on nights when we were too tired to dress up was to sit on the terrace; however, given the heat and humidity in Cartagena, this is not a sensible option, particularly for the elderly. The menus in the restaurants and room service, and buffet options for breakfast and lunch do not offer a variety of choices for guests with dietary restrictions and allergies. Our hotel suite was clean, nice, comfortable, and spacious. However, in the bathroom of our suite, there were pencil marks around the toilet paper holder and a cut-out in the wall that wasn't properly closed. The ATM in the hotel was not working, which is problematic for international travelers who cannot easily access Colombian pesos and need them in order to take taxis to go to Cartagena's historic center. If you're traveling from another country, you can get pesos at the airport before taking a taxi to the hotel.

Reviewed By mateos754It’s a great hotel, the service really makes up the outdated rooms (which are fine) to expensive, but a good hotel. Everything es clean, well taken care and a well organized and trained staff with you in mind. It’s at the outskirts of Cartagena, making it a 15 minute drive to the center of town but with the added virtue of a beautiful beech.

Awful management but Amazing customer service.
Reviewed By Jaime BMy mother in law , wife and I had the opportunity to go to this very famous hotel in Colombia. The plan was to stay for 4 nights. But we ended up staying only 1 They offered us a welcome Pina colada which was very tasty and refreshing. Also the waiters and the guys at reception were very attentive and helpful. When going into the room the first thing we notice is that the ac was not working properly. They changed the room for us and for my mother in law ( her room was having the same issue). We ordered some food for dinner and it was ok. After coming back to the room and going to sleep we notice the ac was not working as expected but since they changed the room for us and said they were working on it we decide to give it a go and go to sleep. During the night my wife woke up several times. Rooms are: old, they have thin walls. I could her the other rooms phone ring at night. The bathrooms have a very word design where they combine a shower and bathtub in the same place. And are too small. So I decided to go to the reception and they changed us into another room. In the morning we went to have breakfast at the buffet and it was average. My mother in laws room shower cap went off and it landed on her head. So during breakfast we decided to stay at another hotel and to be honest that was the smartest idea. At reception they offered to give us 2 suites but we rejected it and asked for a refund which they agreed. We got the help from rocio FloreZ to get the money refunded and she was super helpful, attentive and offered an amazing customer service. The only reason I'm not substracting a star is because of the amazing staff.

Reviewed By victore723Very disappointing experience We visited with a group of friends who share our opinion that this is a place to avoid for various reasons. 1 The staff is not adequately trained,resulting in poor service,delays and mixups. In the reception the staff can be hostile. 2 the food is tasteless, poorly presented and boring. The breakfast is the only good meal, with a large variety of foodstuffs. 3 the bars (there are 2) are not comfortable, the drinks are not well prepared and during two days we could not have mojitos because they did not have the ingredients to prepare them. 4 finally, we were asked a deposit os $300.00 which we sent to the account provided, to secure our reservation. On arrival we were told that the deposit had not been received, but not to worry, they would sort it out before departure. On departure date the amount had not yet been found and we hd to pay the full amount of the invoice. The Central in Bogota, who received the money, did not transfer it to Manzanillo, so its up to us to sort it out. 5 In conclusion a low class establishment, with unprepared staff, bad quality food, poor service and a dishonest management. To avoid at all costs.

Reviewed By pmickeyThe hotel is a 4 star hotel , but the staff lacks 4 star service, only a few staff members speak any English, I understand that it’s a another county , but staff dealing with tourists should have some English speakers on staff , we where in the vip room which really did not give us any benefits, so if you are planning on staying here not worth the money for vip rooms , the rooms are small and other then front desk clerk which they call a butler not worth the money , the breakfast was ok there is no special area for vips , there are choices for breakfast but the staff can not handle the volume,

AC and cleaning issues
Reviewed By Passport03395484338The A/C was not working well and the expectation is that for a city that is too hot is at least the A/C works well and the sheets were dirty. We complained about it but no changes were made in our stay. I do not recommend the hotel. The AC in the gym did not work as well it was like training in a sauna

Reviewed By 834sanaqSo I booked a trip here in July Through amex- amex called several times to change my reservation dates as did I and I no one answers. This is a 5 star hotel and it's worrisome as I paid in full and they are not returning my calls or amex calls to change dates

Be careful if transferring deposit to secure accomodations
Reviewed By Camper264881I sent a money transfer to this hotel, to an account that was provided to me by customer service rep. They received the payment as requested, but continually claimed that they could not be sure it was from me. The reason I did not pay form the suite with my credit card is they said payment can only be received by credit card in person, and I was buying a weekend as a gift for my friend. In the end my friend had to use her card and I reimbursed her directly. So ultimately I paid for the suite twice, since I still have not received any refund for my original money transfer. I did everything they asked for, and the $700 CAD was received by the Hotel's bank. Strange behaviour for such a well known Hotel Group. Peter D.
