Reviewed By robynbitnerMy husband and I had an amazing time on our honeymoon staying at Gungaporanga Hotel. Absolutely no complaints. The staff were very friendly, polite and proactive. Super helpful and welcoming! The food was absolutely amazing (I would definitely recommend the risotto with shrimp, coconut and mango). The room was very clean and the view of the lagoon and ocean was breathtaking. Very close to to the beach (Praia do Gunga and Barra de São Miguel) with lots of tours to do in the area. An amazing experience 10/10.

Summer holiday

We stayed for about nine days and enjoyed the spacious room, the pool in the evening after the beach, the caipirinhas, fabulous breakfast, attentive staff, chairs and parasoles at the beach. There was Internet in public areas and it worked well, in the room we weren't able to get the best signal though, which wasn't a problem since we got ourselves Brazilian SIM cards at a near by grocery store. A/C worked well in the room which is really important when you come from a place in the world with a much cooler and less humid weather as Alagoa's. In the room there was HD TV but it was only Brazilian stations, I would have appreciated a few other international TV station options as well. We enjoyed the quietness and charm of the hotel, being distant to the busiest part of Barra was definitely a plus for us. We hired a car from the airport and we were never short of a place to park at the hotel and were able to drive ourselves to different beaches around, Maceió and places to have dinner at night. Thank you very much to Marcos and Vivá Barra's whole staff for the marvelous stay we spent at their little place of heaven on earth.

Reviewed By vanelicThe staff was superfriendly and I felt like at home. Excellent location to explore nearby beaches. Good choice for breakfast. Overall very good value for money. BUT... Bed matress was extremely hard and even after putting three thick blankets under the bedsheet it was not comfortable and it was difficult to have a good sleep. Aircon was working but insufficient in the heat of summer. Slow wifi.

Every room has it's own hammock outside the door which is very comfortable. The room was big. Clean. Beds comfortable. Air conditioner good and shower excellent. Breakfast is average though.

Reviewed By Maira CIt is not a luxury hotel, but the room has all the basics. They provide crib and plastic tub for babies. Staff is efficient, except for some waiters at lunch time. Breakfast and dinner included in the room rate are both good enough, although breakfast should start at 6 am (instead of 7 am), because the sun rises at 5 am. So there are lots of guests waiting for the breakfast to start, because they have been up early, specially those with young children. The best thing about the hotel is its location on a great beach, with transparent warm light green water, most of the time without waves, so perfect for swimming, stand up paddle and for small children to have fun.

Reviewed By Thiago CThis hotel, due to a not large number of rooms, feels very cozy, like a small villa. When you check-in, they ask which drinks you want, and bring them up to your minifridge already. From there it's a quick walk to the beach, and you're at the huge stretch of sand leading up to the crowded parts on the right side, with the day trips to Gunga beach, etc. My suggestion to make this place even nicer is that they should partner up, or at least get some contacts for day trips. Otherwise you'll have to find them out for yourself, which is just a hassle when you want the convenience of a few options to start with. That means, you'll have to walk some 15-20 minutes (or more) to the crowded touristic area and ask around by yourself. The hotel also got a pizzeria on the ground floor, and the pizza is delicious there. Good for those days when you come back from a long walk or a lazy day in the sun and forgot to drop by any small market to buy snacks.

She went out of her way to walk us to the beach to explain how to get to the main area and about the tide coming in - even though we didn´t speak any Portugese! She brought us baked goods in the evening which were freshly baked and gorgeous. The breakfast was fantastic. We asked where the bus stop was to return to Maceio and she and her husband very kindly gave us a lift all that way as they were heading there too! So kind. And to top it all off she gave us homemade biscuits as a parting gift on the way back. I cannot recommend this pousada enough! Thank you Dora!
