Cumbrian Heavy Horses

Reviewed By xljxx

Me and my partner both love horses and were staying in the area so decided to book a farm ride at Cumbrian heavy horses and was not disappointed! The booking was really straightforward and was told what to expect when we arrive etc. especially as we are not experienced riders. Kim took us out, she was so friendly and told us lots about the horses, it ended up just being us three during the farm ride so it was really relaxed and we got lots of photos with the beautiful surroundings. The horses are truly beautiful and clearly so cared for and loved. Thank you for a great day!

I had my first lesson here after not riding for 14 years due to a back injury. I used to compete at a professional level, and sadly I hurt myself while showjumping. I explained when booking that I wasn’t a novice, but I was particularly out of shape, and practise. I was greeted by a friendly face at reception who told me who I would be riding, and who would be my instructor. My instructor was excellent, we started with some basics and she worked me up to more difficult activities, allowing me to find my current level. Towards the end of the lesson everything finally clicked back into place, and my instructor was as excited as I was! A great lesson, and I will definitely be returning, a wonderful feeling to be back in the saddle, and so great to have been assisted by an enthusiastic and encouraging teacher.

Willington Hall Riding Centre

This was our first time to the Riding School and was booked as part of a holiday package. We are both experienced riders with different abilities and were given structured lessons to get the most out of our stay. Our instructor, Christine, was first class. She was experienced, professional, patient and understanding and gave us both the scope to develop our riding, with good tips to take back with us. The owner, Sandra, clearly had a wealth of horse riding experience and was very accommodating to our needs. The yard was very well run with a large number of horses to meet the needs of riders with differing abilities. We also went out on a couple of hacks to the local Delamere Forest which was spectacular in the rare Autumn sunshine. We will certainly return.

Booked in for a private lesson and hack last week with Laura. Both sessions were great! Laura was really welcoming and friendly and made me feel right at ease straight away. Setting of the yard is lovely, beautiful views from the outdoor arenas and both horses were a joy to ride. I did the hour and a half hack and the scenery was beautiful, woodland trails & even a stone circle! Next time I have some free time I will definitely pop back up for a ride. Thank you Bank House for reigniting my riding passion it was great to be in the saddle again ????☺️

The Friesian Experience

A unique opportunity to learn more about the Friesian horse and the very strict studbook they belong to. Get up close and personal, find out what it's like to ride and/or drive one of these beautiful black horses, maybe even take one to the beach. Small group tours of the farm available to spend some time with the horses. Or, come and celebrate a special occasion with a horse drawn carriage ride round Cartmel or for your wedding. Riding suitable for experienced riders.
