Great short walk near Berry & Kangaroo Valley, 3km's return, depending on fitness level about 1hr return. There are some moderate uphill sections but the walk is generally easy. The track is clearly defined and fun walking underneath the sub-tropical canopy. The views over the Illawarra are spectacular, along with the unique rock formations. Keep kids and dogs on leash there are severe drop-offs at the top.

Pebbly Beach

Pebbly Beach is a beautiful sand beach famous for its swimming kangaroos. The local kangaroos often come down to the water for a dip on a hot summer afternoon, and if not will be lazing about on the dunes behind the beach. It is one of the only beaches in Murramarang National Park that is accessible by car.

This place exeeded all expectations....Spacious car park (don´t forget to bring coins for park entrance fees), picnic area with BBQ, truly wonderful beach with forrest and bushland reaching almost to shore. But the main attraction here is (of course ...:)) the free roaming kangaroos. You will meet them either on the grass area around the BBQ or down at the beach (on the grass areas as well). During the day they are quite lazy, mostly resting in the shades of the trees and bushes, you can see them more active in the morning or around dusk. They are (very) tame, and you can get really close, if you behave calm and quiet. Besides the roos there is plenty of other wildlife to see (of course no guarantees): plenty of birdlife (Lorikeets, King Parrots, Kookaburras, Lyrebirds, Sooty Oystercatcher etc.etc. just to name a few). If you are lucky you can encounter Goannas, Echidnas, Pythons, Swamp Wallabies and others as well. The beach itself is amazing and invites for a swim. You have the choice either to stay and explore the beach (and relax) or do some nearby bushwalks. All in all this is really an amazing place, outstanding. I will definitely return as many times as possible when i am in NSW......

Worth the trip. Freshly shucked oysters and grilled oysters. Even with the world going crazy around us it was still a fantastic experience. Had a cosy spot in the sun by the riverbank to enjoy great friendly service and tasty oysters (and prawns). Wish we had thought to bring a bottle of wine as its BYO only.

I visited The Treat Factory in early December to do my Christmas shopping.  I'd previously visited this place while doing a road trip, and their assortment of treats was worth returning for.  The factory is a 3-minute drive from the heart of town, or an easy 10-minute walk from Berry Station.  On this occasion, I simply caught the express train down from Sydney and enjoyed some amazing scenery along the way. I recommend you take a browse of their website before visiting.  You can buy their products on-line, but hey, half the fun is browsing their store and enjoying the township of Berry.  And how good is their selection!  I came away with unusual dukkahs (for example: Macadamia & Lemon Myrtle), a large variety of jams (fig & walnut is my fave), decadent hot chocolates (including chilli chocolate), and also some dessert sauces (including butterscotch).  There's also chocolates, preserves, condiments, savoury sauces, hampers, and so much more.  Decisions, decisions! Most of their products are made on the premises, so while I was browsing the store, I took a peek through the glass windows to watch the factory staff working away like busy bees. The staff had a great work ethic; nothing was too much trouble and they were genuinely happy to help.  I asked a staff member for assistance in locating a product.  Despite her being busy, when she saw how long my shopping list was, she asked if I needed help locating any of the other products.  Nice one! After blitzing my Christmas shopping list, I popped directly next door to The Dairy Bar for some time out over a gelato before heading back on the train.  It was relaxing sitting out on the deck overlooking farmland which stretched out to Mt Coolangatta.  I noticed they had a breakfast and lunch menu (using condiments from The Treat Factory), so next time I'll give that a go. There's a car park directly outside, and both venues are Covid-friendly.  I especially like how they are located away from Berry's busy day-trippers. All up, a trip down to The Treat Factory was the best way to get my Christmas shopping nailed, and I'll be happy to pop by whenever I'm passing through Berry.  Oh, and the family were very happy with their unusual Christmas gifts, too!
