Maui Crafts Guild

The Maui Crafts Guild is a collective of ceramists, woodworkers, print-makers, jewelers, textile artists, photographers, glass artists, basket weavers...and a few who defy classification. Work exhibited in the gallery is selected through a comprehensive jury process that ensures the highest quality and excellence in craftsmanship. Each artist must be a current full-time resident of Maui. The artisans transform everyday materials into creative results, allowing you to quite literally take a piece of Maui home with you! The gallery is staffed by guild members, so there is an artisan in residence every time you visit. Make sure to stop by and see us the next time you are in town! The gallery is open daily from 10 am -6 pm.

This gallery, like its sister shop in Makawao, offers excellent art works by local artisans in a variety of media. They are one of the few shops to offer authentic Ni'ihau native Hawaiian shell lei's. Just viewing these precious works and hearing the story behind them is well worth the visit. The artisans who work in the shop are friendly, knowledgeable and will take the time to share, show and explain all with NO pressure. Prices here are better than the "high end" area of Laihaina, Wailea or Kapalua

There are four Maui Hands art galleries, each with their own art, photography, and jewelry. Some artisans are represented in more than one gallery, others in just one. I found the jewelry in the Paia gallery to be particularly lovely, and the staff there are especially friendly and helpful.

We visited the store in Paia where Greg helped us. Then, we went to the store in Wailea where Mika helped us. Both were very friendly and gave my wife and me personal attention. We ended up buying a total of four shirts, including a matching one for our 12-year old son. Mahalo Greg and Mike.
