Her handmade turtles and wolf-paws are the best add-on present you could hope for (but buy extra cause you'll want some for yourself!). Her fudge is superb as well and the whole place has that classic candy shop feel that makes you want to hang out (and have some ice cream). We send this as presents to our friends around the country and they can't stop raving and wanting more. Located in what was voted the "Coolest Small Town in the United States" this is not to be missed!

Highly recommend. The whole Piragis team from start to finish was wonderful. Our 4 night, 5 day trip (2 friends) started Oct. 1, just as a cold spell hit. Our guide, Dave HIcks, called us prior to the trip to give extra advice about planning for the cold weather. He was right on. We bought neoprene socks at the Piragis store which were perfect for keeping our feet warm and dry in the 20’s to low 30’s temps for the first couple of days. During the trip Dave went above and beyond to educate us about the Boundary Waters ecosystem, also giving us great tips to improve our paddling and navigation skills, and he even showed us nifty ways to collect dead wood and to start our camp fires. Best trip ever!

Great place to see both local rocks and gems as well as others from all over the world. They also have the largest collection of Thomsonite which is only found on the shores of Lake Superior. Family run business by the Bartels. Very friendly and gracious owners who purchased this business almost 20 years ago and are still going strong. Love the personal service and my customized Thomsonite pendant wrapped in gold by Amber. This is the best rock and gem store in the Midwest and beyond. Don't miss it on your next visit up the North shore of Lake Superior!

What an uplifting story of American ingenuity, Spirit, and drive. Tour guide was sooo good, and doubles as a very persuasive sales girl. This tour is a must-do if you are ever NEAR Faribault. Be sure to call ahead to get on the list for the tour time desired. We left with woolen koozies for friends back home, and two wool blankets, even though we will have the rare occasion to cuddle up under one.

Just happened by Lake Superior Art Glass with the open air windows and watched Jake make a memorial vase with a someone's loved one's cremated ashes...WOW...so very cool! We've been to the island of Murano in Italy and can attest to how professional and beautiful their hand blown glass creations are! They are 1 of 2 glass blowing companies in the nation that allow people to make their own memorial so when we go back in October, we're going to bring some of our precious little chihuahuas' ashes and make a paperweight! They offer classes too so what are you waiting for?! Support this awesome small business!!
