Amana Meat Shop and Smokehouse

Smoke shop famous for its smoked meat specialties.

Reviewed By stutzmes - Urbandale, United States

This is a meat shop not a restaurant. We always stop here for meat supplies when passing thru the Amanq area. The German style stone ground mustard and smoked bacon are a must. We stock up with several jars of mustard and at least 4 packages of the maple smoked bacon. This bacon is lower in sodium than most advertised lower in sodium bacon from the grocery stores. I have to watch my sodium in take and will grill the 4 packages on the grill and freeze it for future use. They always have food samples available.

TAFFY, my friend was talking to us about getting her new supply of it; so I bought 2 flavors also; yummy!! Christmas area was so packed, it was hard to move around since it was overload to our minds where we couldn't see everything since it was crowded. Would be wonderful some day if they could put an elevator in for those of us that are handicapped and can't walk up/down their stairs to see everything down there too. Their women's bathroom sink was leaking; water all over the floor by sink only; not by stools. I informed cashiers of this. I asked them to put a sign on the door about WET FLOOR; be careful. Instead they put an OUT OF ORDER sign on door. I asked why; we DON'T have a sign that says that!! Then make one so folks can use the public restroom since there aren't that many places allowing public to use their restrooms ok ;) Thanks for your consideration. Aisles are very narrow and with the HUGE weekend crowds, very hard to get around. So be prepared for that if you are a senior.

I have found toys here that I have seen in no other stores. Even toys popular in the 60s and 70s. Like a blast from the past and also of course newer style toys.
