10 Gift & Specialty Shops in Amalfi That You Shouldn't Miss

December 3, 2021 Rebbecca Marino

If it's your first time visiting the Amalfi Coast, chances are you'll do a double-take the first time you see a roadside lemon stand. Yes, those are lemons, and yes, they are the size of your head. But despite their freakish appearance, you will grow to love these lemons because the locals use them to produce limoncello. And take it from us, there's nothing like a glass of limoncello as you gaze out at the sea from the balcony of your hotel in Amalfi. It's pretty much perfection.

There are so many ceramic shoes in the Amalfi region - I was told that Sorrento was the cheapest and Positano the most expensive and Amalfi was in the middle. When shopping around it was a matter of a few euros in the end. Semantics. I came here a few times before I settled on the 9 items - [see photo]. There was no pressure to buy anything here - the lady was very nice and helped when asked. The items I bought were made by a local artist as are all the items in her store. The 4 cups were E7 each = E28, the 4 shot cups were E4 each = E16 and the round try they sat on was E45. All up E89 which is about $148AU. This didn't include postage. That fee came later and was just over $100AUfor UPS which included insurance - via an email alert to pay online. They came well packaged and arrived unbroken. There is a replacement warranty if things break and she will replace them. Highly recommend this place to buy your ceramic and tiled goods.

I probably spent way too much at this shop! There bags were very high quality and unique. I came back several times. I especially loved the bull leather weekender bags. Got one for my hubby and one for me. The owners were very helpful in suggestions and showing me different bags to help me find the right one (or 3....). Highly recommend a visit and shopping here.

We stumbled upon this shop as we walked through the streets of Amalfi. It is tucked in a corner but is a gem! Ima thoroughly explained the paper making process to us and let us try the glass ink pens (made near Venice). The pens are pure glass and you dip the end into the ink. The small grooves in the tip allow the ink to continually flow. She was kind enough to let me try many different pens (they are all handmade and each one is unique) and see how they wrote and felt in my hand before purchasing. She wrapped my purchase in bubble wrap and cardboard and it remained safe throughout our long journey home. The handmade paper feels like fabric because of the cotton fibers. It is a bit pricey, but worth it. The envelopes have "Amalfi" watermarked on them, and the quality is superb. I can see many of their papers/leather bound journals/envelopes being used for special occasions such as weddings, showers, birthdays, or for those who just appreciate well-made, handcrafted products with a history and tradition. Ima was very knowledgeable and friendly and I recommend this shop as a must-stop on your trip. It was my favorite shop in Amalfi.

They have a great selection of lemon products - home scents, fragrances, candies. The service is nice and you can see them making limoncello on site.
