10 Gear Rentals in Loire Valley That You Shouldn't Miss

February 4, 2022 Trinity Boughner

Old world villages and storybook chateaux bedeck the Loire, once fought over by Gauls, Romans, Visigoths and even Attila the Hun. Rent bikes and roll through the lush valley, visiting fortresses in Amboise and Angers, UNESCO-designated Chartres Cathedral and the Gothic cathedral in Nantes. Musee Jules Vernes houses replicas of inventions designed by the futuristic author. Pay respects to other former residents: the Romans in Tours, the cave dwellers of Touraine, and the liberator of Orleans, Joan of Arc.

Roue Lib

Reviewed By L3888STlindat - Puyallup, United States

We wanted to rent bikes in Amboise for two days. After reading reviews online, I selected Roue Lib because of their five star rating. Who gets a 5 out 5? Something had to be special. But, they didn’t have an Ebike small enough for my 4’11” body. So, we left to go to the competitor a couple blocks away who did have a bike small enough and was cheaper, but the quality was not as good. Minutes thereafter, I got an email from RoueLib saying that had a solution for me. Sure enough, we went back and they had a special post and seat all ready for me. It went so low that I had to have him raise it a pinch. The guy there is fantastic. His English is rough, but our French is worse. But, you understand most everything because he has great expressions and sound effects for all his safety training. He gave us very detailed directions for a 20km trip to Chenonceau (lovely Château and delightful flat easy ride) one day and a 25km trip to Chaumont (amazing Château, art, and gardens with slightly harder ride) the next. We had two amazing days with two amazing bikes. We couldn’t recommend this place highly enough. There is a reason they get five out of five stars on their reviews. The guy at the store isn’t happy until you are happy. Simply delightful. We would nearly come back to the Loire Valley just to do this again!
