10 Free Things to do in Sitges That You Shouldn't Miss

November 9, 2021 Stefan Strunk

The small city of Sitges parties big. The nightlife is thumping, the people are gorgeous and the annual Carnival festival is utterly epic. A countercultural touchstone, Sitges is lively and very LGBT friendly. Native food and beverage is sublime—you simply must sample the Malvasia wine, made from grapes descending from Ancient Greece. Don’t miss the Museu Romàntic "Can Llopis" or, if you’re in Sitges in October, the world-renowned Sitges Film Festival, a cinematic extravaganza of horror, sci-fi and fantasy.

We were taken to this bar at the suggestion of a very nice man called Peter (seems to a be a popular name in Sites, having been introduced to Scottish Peter whilst in the bar and my partner being called Peter ????). When we arrived at the bar, tucked away around a corner or two from the beach front, in a quiet residential street loads of steps for the hardy, it was nice and quiet with 7 or so in the bar. We were introduced to Brandon and Joaquin, the owners, and were made very welcome. This is an eclectic, small but charming bar and we really enjoyed talking to all the ex Pat's who have found their forever home in Sitges. Thank you for the warm welcome and we'll be back for that final drink before we go home. P.S. If you have an interest in the gay history of Sitges, Brandon made a DVD a few years ago and, if you ask him nicely, he'll sell you a copy ????

Nice promenade along the sandy beach with the odd bar/restaurant along the way. Some lovely houses to look at on the other side of the road. Lots of dog walkers and cyclists as well.

The beach in Sitges is beautiful, even in March when it’s chilly. It was nice in the early spring because it was quiet and the town felt so sleepy and peaceful. There are lots of delicious cafes and restaurants right along the beach, and you feel so relaxed!

On the top of a little hill, looking over the sea and the village. Nice architecture. Romantic lightning in the evening. An icon of Sitges.

El Piano

A fun, friendly, attitude free bar with a theatrical flair. It offers great music, camp video clips and live performances by London West End singers. Everyone is given a warm welcome. A mixed bar where it's difficult not to be caught up in the contageous atmosphere. Even your Grandmother will be singing and kicking her legs to classic showtunes and boogying down to the latest hits.
