Lake Daylesford

Reviewed By Susan188 - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

There r so many approaches to the lake .. it's breathtaking early in the morning or wgen dusk falls ... The concept for the lake was mooted in the early 1890s .. to create a lake close to Daylesfordand near the mineral springs .. but the Lake Daylesford was only built in 1929 & officially opened in 1930 w a lot of fanfare and excitement .. Lake Daylesford has become a main attraction for all visitors & popular w locals ... It is a haven for the local bird life, a place for everyone of all ages to relax, enjoy a picnic, take a scenic walk & enjoy the glorious views tt surrounds it .. :)) .. It was a good climb, up down to the lake ..

Passing Clouds Winery

Passing Clouds has been making fine wine of distinction since 1974. Our winery and vineyard is located just outside of Daylesford. The dining room is open and serving lunch from Friday to Monday

A lovely spot to take an overseas visitor to Melbourne. A cellar door tasting first, then the Monday special which was perfect for lunch - beautiful chicken beautifully cooked on the grill, accompanied by a delicious glass of wine and followed by a nicely chosen cheese. Not too much food in lovely surroundings. The countryside looked beautiful after the rain. An abundance of blue and yellow wildflowers in green grass by the roadsides - in March! My English friend said it was the only part of Australia he’d seen where he’d consider living - and he’s been all over!

Daylesford Cider Company

A warm welcome awaits you at our tavern-style cellar-door, only 5 mins east of Daylesford (1.5hrs from Melbourne & Geelong, 1hr from Bendigo). Here we make a range of traditional style ciders using the heritage cider apples grown organically on the farm, alongside other locally sourced apples. Sample them all with a cider tasting paddle ($15, 7 glasses of different ciders) and pick which ones you want to take home with you. Lunch is served Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday, offering a modest menu which changes throughout the year. Expect wood fired pizza, platters & light lunches during the warmer months, and heartier warming dishes during winter. Bookings for lunch are strongly recommended on weekends and public holidays, especially for groups. We also host private functions, live music, tours, picnics in the orchard, bridal showers, probus lunches, post-wedding recoveries & wedding ceremonies. Just get in touch to find out how we can help you with your next celebration, cheers!

Just had a lovely lunch in the garden at Daylesford Cider. Tasting platter and pizzas were scrumptious. Driving so missed out on the ciders this time but the sparking apple juice was delightful. Will definitely be going again.

With works derived from natural elements, and inspiration drawn from the Australian landscape, Michael's resin paintings are truly spectacular. The gallery also contains an extraordinary range of ceramics, blown glass, timber works, jewellery and sculptures by local Australian artists. Clayfire Gallery Daylesford

Reviewed By peterf258

We were taken to Daylesford for lunch as part of a sightseeing trip. What a beautiful little country town. The number of vehicles and people moving around is testament to its popularity as a tourist must see. Situated about 100km from Melbourne in very scenic undulating countryside the village is one of the first big gold discovery centres in the mid to late 1800's. It also boasts Hepburn Springs, and the area is said to have 80% of Australia's mineral water springs. In this town is an amazing business called Clayfire, selling beautiful and often unusual furniture pieces, sculptures and a wide range of other articles. The choice is both attractive and varied from small pieces to large sculptures and artwork of beautiful quality and shapes. It is easy to spend a lot of time in this shop!! But for the fact that we were travelling back to New Zealand, it would have been very tempting not to purchase an article for our home. A must see!

Daylesford Sunday Market

Reviewed By royv647 - Traralgon, Australia

While holidaying at Creswick we travelled the short distance to Daylesford to check out the market, it was very good, one of the best attended and largest markets we have been to in a long time . Well laid out in the railway station grounds it was very well organised. Some good food stalls there, we had a nice lunch from one selling Potatoe Rotti. Plenty of clothes stalls, lots of different food and plant vendors and every sort of nicknacks , tools, bags, antiques, craft the list goes on . Well worth attending when your in the area.
