Hubbs Creek Vineyard

Reviewed By Eledublin - Prince Edward County, Canada

It is always a pleasure to spend some time talking about wine, life and The County with Battista. The owner and winemaker or Hubbs Creek exudes Italian charm, wisdom and a good sense of humour. It is, therefore, easy to get distracted from the marvelous wines he creates. Especially if Nicole, Mayor Steve or Maria are around. That bunch is just too much fun (see, I did it again:)). Battista's wine are a pure joy. The joy of life, drinking wine, living in the county. He gets the character, flavor and limestone from this blessed land. Pinot Gris, Rosè and Pinot Noir are my favourites, but don't forget his Chardonnays (we are in the County, after all). Stop by, say buongiorno, have a glass and enjoy. Or, if you can't right now, order online and get it delivered...no Amazon product will give you as much joy :)

Loch Mor Cider

Our small batch, dry cider is made from apples pressed on site at harvest time when the fruit is full of flavour and then allowed to mature until Spring. Our family orchard, planted with cider and heritage apple varieties, is set in the beautiful countryside near Wellington, Prince Edward County. You’re welcome to relax at our cidery and enjoy a glass with the view.

Three of my girlfriends and myself rode bikes to loch Mor Cider Co, for my birthday this weekend. The staff was friendly, welcoming and had excellent service. The cider flight was a fun way to taste the different and delicious cider types! We also ordered some snacks which were tasty and helped fuel us for our next ride. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I’d love to go back when I am in Picton next.

My husband and I had a wonderful night. We had a wine tasting provided by Laurie Ann, who was really knowledgeable about the history of the winery and the wine varietals! It was really fun and we’re looking forward to going back to Karlo Estates again this summer :)

The Old Third Vineyard

My husband and I attended a Visa Infinite Dining event here on Saturday and the space is absolutely stunning. We were able to enjoy their Pinot Noir (which they're sold out of) and their Cab Franc which were both stunning; probably the best wine we've had in the region. Yes, they bottles are a little more expensive but I've been told by fans of their wine is that the Pinot Noir is really hard to get and is in high demand. The owner and his partner are lovely people if you get to chat with them ask them about the stories behind their wines. Don't miss coming here!

Closson Chase Vineyard

Closson Chase is a quality-driven producer that has helped spearhead the birth of the Prince Edward County wine industry. Since 1999, it has been committed to creating distinctive wines that rival the world’s finest. Set in Hillier, Ontario, the estate is over 30 acres of south facing, limestone-rich soil under vine; planted high density to the classic Burgundian-varietals of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with small yields, French-inspired vinification and careful barreling in 100% French oak.

I visited Closson Chase on a whim and I am SO GLAD I did because it was the cutest vineyard I have ever seen. From the gorgeous purple barn that has been expertly restored to the gorgeous stained glass motif and garden patio set up, it was such a pretty little place. I did a wine flight tasting, sampling a white and 2 reds. The service was great - they gave us different glasses for each wine (I know this is standard practice but a few other vineyards I visited used the same glass for each different tasting), the staff were knowledgeable and very friendly. I loved the wines I sampled (1 white and 2 reds) and picked up a few bottles. They do not serve food, so to go at 2 or 3pm for just a wine tasting was excellent! I wouldn't hesitate to tell everyone to add Closson Chase to their County visit!

I highly recommend people stop and try the variety of really good wines that Harwood produces. Their staff are amazing. I had a wonderful experience ordering a mixed case of wine from John. Yesterday I visited with some friends for a tasting. The woman who assisted up was extremely knowledgeable and fun. I will be going back again and again, and I will certainly be ordering more online as well.
