Plou Et Fils

We went here after reading the nice reviews on TripAdvisor and were not disappointed. We felt very welcome. We tried several of the wines and our children got the grape fizz which they enjoyed so much that we bought a couple of bottles for them as well. The tour and explanation of the wine making and bottling process was very nice. It is the first time I have visited a winery where they showed the bottling as well. We went home with several white wines and some sparkling. If you are interested in the wine making process and wine tasting, go to this place!

Caves Duhard

Reviewed By TravelMania2018 - Thailand, null

I booked the castle tour online and lunch was included. My family was quite lucky that there is no one else to join the trip so we were on a private exposure. After completing the Chenonceau castle, the tour guide took us over to this Caves Duhard where we did get a very informative tour including wine tasting as well. The lady who did the tour was super knowledgeable on wines being produced along the Loire river. Again, there was just 4 of us in the family for this tour. The wine brought for tasting was very good I ended up buying a few bottles. We were taken into many rooms starting from the very basic aroma test to learn how to distinguish the base aroma of each wine. Inside the cave can be very cold. The blanket was offered before the tour start and I strongly recommend that you take it. Many videos were played from room to room. Not sure if they are related ok. Just one little tip here, check the blanket well. Some of them might have a very cheesy smell. if you don't say anything you will end up having it for the entire one hour tour. The highlight was the private lunch overlooking the river. It was a good section of foods & wine for that one hour lunch. The waiter was very attentive. We were very lucky with the weather, it was a bright shiny day so everything was beautiful. For wine, if you buy a lot or don't want to carry it along the remaining trip, you can ask for parcel service to have your favorite bottle sent to your home country.

Great wine, wonderful atmosphere and the friendliest staff we found anywhere in France. They even make their own sparkling wine - it was so good we had 3 bottles.
