10 Cultural Tours in Seattle That You Shouldn't Miss

May 29, 2021 Timmy Ribble

In Seattle you simply can’t skip the Central Public Library – a modern architectural marvel of glass grids, unusual shapes, and a “book spiral” that climbs four stories. Stroll over to Pike Place Market to visit the original Starbucks and play catch with a fishmonger. In the heart of the city lies Chihuly Garden and Glass, which will dazzle you with its colorful and delicate works. Glide to the top of the Space Needle for panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges and Puget Sound.

During the tour, we will make three stops in places of tourist importance. The first stop will be the Pioneer Square neighborhood located in the historic district of the old metropolis where we will visit the origins of Seattle on a walk suitable for the whole family and full of history, architecture, and photography. We will continue to the Ballard Locks for our second stop. We will see the boats enter and leave the Pacific Ocean to the lakes surrounding the city. Finally, we will end with one of the most impressive panoramic views before ending the tour where we can take some of the best photos of the city center. The tour ends at the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, or returned to your hotel. It is generally a 3-hour tour but it can be extended if the group wishes. This tour is highly recommended for children and adults of all ages.

Mario was a terrific guide. It was just 5 of us in the van. the an was clean and comfortable. He was very nice, easy going and friendly. He made us feel right at home immediately. He offered to take most of our pictures and knew all the best spots. He shared great information and took us to different areas that we otherwise would not have easily gotten to. I would highly recommend Hola Seattle if you're looking for a spanish tour of this great city.

Booked the VIP Ultimate Seattle Food Tour for 6 people on January 6th for March 18th. I was notified that our host was being briefed on March 3rd and I was contacted by March 4th. Details were exchanged and a proposed itinerary was received on March 15th. We paid $976 for this 4 hour tour and I was told that our "budget" for food for the 6 of us was $213. The itinerary included 3 stops where we were expected to order off the menu and share. Transportation between restaurants was not included. I asked our host what their recommendations were (why those particular restaurants were selected) and commented that making 3 reservations, being responsible for our own transportation, and ordering off the menu/sharing was something we could have just done on our own. On the morning of March 17th - ONE DAY BEFORE OUR TOUR - I received notification that our tour was canceled "due to COVID" (which isn't being honest, IMO). What horrible service.

I really faffed up and we were an HOUR late. Despite this Tim made it work. He is FASCINATING and very funny. I am really looking forward to doing another of his tours but in a different area. We had a tremendously fun evening and I strongly recommend Tim to anyone who has even a vague interest in beer. Also afterwards we had the option of hanging about with him and his lovely wife but we had to head home back to the dogs-which in hindsight we could have brought with us.

TOUR INCLUDES FIGUREHEAD BREWING, the FIDHERMEN'S TERMINAL AND ROOFTOP BREW COMPANY. On the south shore of Salmon Bay, beneath the Ballard Bridge, and north of the BSNF train yards is Seattle's historic Fishermen's Terminal and the home port for the North Pacific Fishing Fleet. Think of the Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch and you will know exactly what kind of intrepid fishermen sail from this port. Luckily for them, and for us, there are two great breweries on either side of the port, and we are going to taste six great beers at each. At each brewery our Cicerone certified Beer Guide will lead a guided tasting of six, 4-once beers, for a total of 12 different beers. Let's explore the busiest locks in the nation, the Hiram Chittenden Locks! We will watch boats "lock through" and watch for baby salmon (smolts) going out to sea, and adults returning to navigate the fish ladder on their way home to spawn. The resident harbor seals and herons are always fun to watch too! We will learn how this critical component of our maritime industry and history transformed Seattle, and it's role in managing our fresh water lake systems. Then we're off to Gas Works to learn about this one-of-a-kind park, where we will see float planes taking off and landing, and enjoy stunning views of the city. Finally we will visit to the houseboat communities along Lake Union, a uniquely Seattle experience! Kids aged 8 and up are welcome, as I do not have car seats for younger ones.

Lynn was personally fabulous and professionally? The breadth of her enthusiastic knowledge was very impressive -- anything from advice on great food to shipping on the waterways to the history of architecture to where to get yummy chocolate. You name it, she knew it. Fun, engaging -- right on time (one of my personal favs...) and was obviously greeted in a warm manner by the people she introduced us to. I'd book this again no hesitation. Wonderful way to spend an afternoon and get to know the heart of a city. My 25 year-old loved it and so did we!

TOUR INCLUDES REUBEN'S BREWS, STOUP BREWING, AND OBEC BREWING.  In the center of Ballard's Brewing District, these three breweries stand out. At each guided tasting we will learn about the different beer styles, what to look for when you are tasting beer, the history of beer, and the craft brewing renaissance in the Pacific Northwest. For example we'll learn how an obscure export ale for British soldiers was reborn in the Pacific Northwest to become the most popular craft beer style in North America or how a small Czech town gave its name to one of the world's most popular beer styles.
