Teatro Pupi Enzo Mancuso

This puppet theatre (& workshop) was well worth the trek to the port area from the centre of town tourism (in which lots of less authentic puppet shows are on offer). Tucked away behind the Ibis hotel in a fascinating little residential street we entered this magical world. The show is in Italian (of course) but although my husband and daughter do know any Italian and my husband is not usually a fan of such things, we were all enthralled throughout. Our six year old daughter was treated so well, they let her sit on stage, gave her a backstage tour, let her play the pianola and even made the puppets kiss her. She laughed out loud the whole way through the show! This is a wonderful family business with father doing the puppeteering and his little son (my daughters age) playing the pianola. So very very magical. Lets keep this tradition alive!

From the passion for wine and for our land, the idea of proposing natural and organic Sicilian wine was born. We accompany the glasses with local artisanal products, sought after by small farmers and local realities. Our restaurant is handmade, with loom fabrics and carpentry work; all to make the sensory experience of natural wine more intense. A journey into the tradition, history, nature and scents of Sicily, through wine, left free from industrial processing. Had an amazing tour of the Teatro Massimo. Purchased tickets in the morning and went on the tour. Wonderful to move around the theater and see from inside the main seating area, to an opportunity to see the private royal box. The sheer size and images make this a truly magical space. Favorite place in Sicily.

We really enjoyed this visit and I would highly recommend it and the delightful Katerina who was our guide. The building is in a sad state of disrepair but this gives it a particular beauty. It only cost €5 and takes 30 mins.

Teatro dell'Opera dei Pupi

Reviewed By delagioventu - Luxembourg City, Luxembourg

Authentic Italian fun, ancient tradition kept on by a puppetmaster who has been doing this for 68 years, and his grandfather and father before him. Now his son is involved as well. Amazing. All in Italian, episodes about the story of orlando, Roland in French, about the knight of Charlemagne and the fight against the Saracens. 12 euro for adults and 6 for children. Pricy, but these people put a lot of effort in it.
