The Kyiv academic theatre of young spectator on Lypky was founded in 1924. The First premiere – "The Jungle Book" of Kipling – took place on November 8.The most prominent masters of the Ukrainian art co-operated with the theatre (A.Buchma, V.Tatlin, A.Lundin, V.Vilner, К.Koshevsky, B.Vershylov, М. Foregger, Meller, even К.Stanislavskyi, who participated in staging of "Bluebird" of М. Meterlink).In different years the theatre carried the names of: I. Franco, М. Gorkii, Leninist komsomol. For the performance the "Young Guard" the theatre was awarded the all-union award of the Leninist komsomol and a gold medal of Laureate №2 in 1966. In 1974 years it was awarded the Order of Red Banner of Labour. The theatre widely toured in the republics of Soviet Union and abroad. Since 1954 the theatre of young spectator is situated in the historical place of Kyiv - in the district of Lypky on Pechersk.Victor Gyrych became the artistic director of theatre from 1991. Now the repertoire of the theatre includes over 30 performances which present the most selective classic and modern literature: W. Shakespeare, J-B. Molire, P-A. Beaumarchais, A. Chekhov, V. Nabokov, I. Franco, О. Oles’, М. Gogol, М. Twain, J. Hoffman, brothers Grimm, A.Lindgren, I. but Ya. Zlatopolski, О.Henry, Lesia Ukrainka, Lope de Vega – this is an incomplete list of the names on the today's playbill of Theatre on Lypky.A theatre on Lypky is the important cell of high artistic culture, where various events, charity performances, reviews, competitions, concerts and international festivals are constantly held.The playbill of theatre always absorbs the best standards of Ukrainian and world dramaturgy.
