Had great time at this cooking school, easy to see why it’s so populated. Picked up on the dot for a tour of the markets which was very interesting. Don’t be afraid to try some things here too. Then back to the garden kitchen for our classes. There were only four of us so we got very hands on with all dishes. We cooked seven dishes in total and you get given a recipe book to take with you.I really loved that the dishes were less complicated than I expected so will be easy to cook back home. Thank you Irma and Wati for a great morning.

Then we educate people, particularly the younger generation, to encourage awareness about the beauty of these endangered art-forms. This was a very special opportunity. We very strongly recommend the experience of learning about this rich art form in the company of such dedicated and welcoming people. Over the course of two weeks in Balu, this was unquestionably the highlight and it opened up our understanding of the culture in ways that enhanced the rest of our stay. Recently attended the cooking class with my son. Very quiet in Bali as not School holidays and no Chinese tourists due to Coronavirus. It turned out to be just my son and I in the class which was perfect. We were picked up from our Villa and taken to a market which is generally not visited by the tourists and were given the opportunity to taste some fruits we hadn’t tasted before like Snake Fruit and Durian which we decided were not for us. From there we were taken back to the cooking school and cooked Beef Rendang, Mie Goreng, spring Rolls and Green Pancakes. Dewi, Koming and Arve were great teachers and the food was fantastic. A great food and cultural experience. I would recommend this to anybody who wants to experience the food and culture first hand.

This time I attended the half day jewellery class - Mr Iwan and his friendly assistant made my class informative, comprehensive and easy to understand. With their help I created a simple silver ring with the sand-paper texture and 5 little granulated balls for decoration. Ketut, who manages the studio, served a beautiful morning tea with love and a visit from the beautiful & warm head designer Ness completed my visit. Make this part of your Bali adventure - you will not regret it!!

Visited here on our last morning in Bali and we were glad that we made the effort. Dikar our tutor was amazing, he was so positive, helpful and kind. We felt immediately at ease and though we weren't skilled at wood carving he made us feel like our efforts were good. Even though we had a couple of mishaps with some overzealous carving resulting in turtle legs being lost Dikar assured us it was fine and that he could fix, he helped glue back together the mistakes and was kind enough to help us out when we felt completely useless! Dikar made it seem so easy to carve (I imagine his 35yrs of practise helps over our 35 seconds) and when we found it frustratingly difficult Dikar just patiently reassured us. We had a wonderful day and would definitely return to another carving class when we next visit Bali!
