Our third Mihai Eminsecu Trust/experiencetransylvania lodging was a small, restored barn in the middle of an orchard. Tucked away behind a high walled garden and comfortably restored with a slightly scary trapdoor up to the bedroom and a snug living room with stove. The food here was absolutely excellent - a huge breakfast of local produce and a long conversation with the caretaker who, speaking perfect English, was able to answer all of the questions that we had accumulated over the previous week. We gained some valuable insights into how hard life is in the area, how corrupt central government is and how much store is placed on education. How sad that the perception of Romanians abroad has been tarnished by a few when a quick review of the numbers of Romanians studying at top UK universities reveals a completely different side. The caretaker's children were the same age as ours but had, through force of circumstances, far more drive and application. The church is rather nice and, being slightly later than others in the area, unusual.

Preserved and maintained extremely well. A self guided tour takes you through the grounds, the church and even the tower for a great vista of the grounds and surrounding countryside. Well worth a visit.

The church is a good example of a fortified Saxon church, the chapel in the walls had great frescoes. There is a small ethnographic museum inside as well as toilets. The climb to the bell tower is not for the faint of heart, but the view is great, although impeded somewhat by the wire mesh placed over the windows.
