My tour of Bukhara was the highlight of my trip to Uzbekistan. My guide, Lola, was arguably the best tour guide I’ve had the pleasure to sightsee with. She had an exceptional knowledge of the history and landmarks and her enthusiasm of the subject matter was infectious. She tailored the tour to my interest and was extremely patient as I nerded out taking photographs. I so enjoyed my day with her and hope to get her as a guide again on my next trip to Uzbekistan. The tour was effortless with hotel pick up and drop off. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough! Well worth it!!

9. One Day Tour to ISKANDARKUL - Live Legend

Bunyod-Tour Travel Company

The name of the mountain Lake Iskanderkul expires on behalf of Alexander the great, who in Tajikistan and Central Asia, Iran and Afghanistan (in the East) is called Iskandari Zulkarnain (Iskander two-horned). The word "Kul" (from the Tajik language – Kul) means "lake", so the name "Iskandarkul" or "Iskanderkul" comes from these two separate words Ikandar+Kul. The validity of this definition is historical; when Alexander the great conquered the communities to come to Central Asia, he passed through this mountain lake and stayed there for a while, then from Central Asia to India. The lake is located at an altitude of 2195 meters above sea level, in the spurs of the Kuhiston mountain node, between the Western extremities of the Hissar and Zerafshan ranges.
