We had very nice days with Andy. We had a big delay due to thunderstorm in Shanghai. Andy was very spontaneous and changed our plans so we could still enjoy and see everything what was important for us. He knows a lot of nice places and routes without too many people. He suggested us nice and friendly hotels. He knows al lot about this region and Chinese history but he isn’t talking frequently. What we really enjoyed :) We can really recommend doing this tour with him!

Dear Jade, Thank you very much for an amazing tour. Out three days with you traveling Guilin and Yangshou were magical. With great care, always right on time, you took us and accompanied us to all the places we asked to see and arranged for us to have wonderful experiences; always adding that bit of knowledge, information, and local experience we were thriving for. Throughout the days (and evenings), with sunrise climbing to Xianggong Mountain, and a driver that picked us and drop us at the airport, you were ALWAYS there. And I know we weren't easy; a couple with two girls, the little one being only three years old. However, you were so patient and we really appreciate it and would like to recommend everyone coming to Guilin to book your guiding services. It will make all the difference for everyone.

Don't bother with pre-booking tickets. I was there in October 2019. I presented my passport at the ticket booth and was provided an entry ticket free of charge, along with a free sub-ticket for another section of the complex. And there was no line-up either. The same thing at the Summer Palace. Completely free as a foreigner. Only locals have to pay to get in. At the Forbidden City, the entry was not free but reduced from the regular ticket prices.
5. Guilin Tea plantation and Longji Rice Terraces Day Tour from Yangshuo hotel
Longsheng County is within the Guilin area (prefecture), Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Its main attraction is the Longji rice terraces ( Longji Titian), called Dragon Backbones by the locals. Also of interest are the hot springs and the small mountain villages among the wooded areas of trees and bamboos. Longji Terraced Field is located about 100km northeast of the downtown Guilin, about 2 hours' drive from Guilin. The rice terraces are built into the hillsides. During this day tour, we can visit the Guilin tea pantation and Huangluoyao Long hair village and Ping'an village or Dazhai village.

Everything worked as expected, pick-up was on time and the views were great. The bamboo raft cruise part is not very long, but it covers the best part of the Li river landscape, so I would definitely recommend it if you are short of time.

8. Three Days Car Rental with English Driver in Guilin, Yangshuo and Longsheng
This is a 3 days car rental service with English driver. It includes a 6-8 hours service per day within a mile coverage of 80km. Tour suggestions: Day 1: Pick up from airport. Head to Guilin city and enjoy a city tour including elephant Trunk Hill, Reed Flute Cave, Fobo Hill, and or Four Lakes and Two Rivers. Day 2: One day tour to Longji Rice Terraces Fields. Back to Guilin and stay overnight there. Day 3: Transfer to Mopanshan Pier for cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo – the famous Li River Cruise. I had this tour on January 8th, 2020. During the middle of the winter, where Zhangjiajie is liable to have foggy rainy weather - which does not lend itself well to the beautiful photos many people post of summer time in the park. With that being said, I had a truly wonderful time. My guide spoke good English for a non-native speaker. I could hold a conversation with him and he was very knowledgable about details of the park (ie: when it opened, types of rocks within the formations, info on the ethnic minorities in the park, etc). He was very kind and did his best to keep me dry despite me having a raincoat. He also had a good eye for where to take photos and how to take them! The tour was not walking intensive, utilizing the intrapark bus service often. This was simultaneously nice and disappointing for a young guy like me who likes to hike but was also two weeks into a cross China trek. After the tour he showed me where to eat, as I had worked up an appetite. And after eating he escorted me to my hotel via a taxi which was paid for by him. Overall, I highly recommend this tour. Get up early and get to the park especially during busy seasons. I think two people plus the guide is an ideal number of people ($115 each). Keep in mind this does NOT include the glass bridge which, frankly, I thought was overrated.
