10 Bus Tours in Guayaquil That You Shouldn't Miss

November 9, 2021 Elouise Mccaul

Founded in the 1530s, Ecuador's largest city and main port is the top access point for Galapagos cruises and home to a bustling import-export business. Tourism is on the rise as well, thanks to a new international airport and urban renewal projects along the River Guayas promenade and in the historic neighborhood of Las Peñas. The 465-step climb to the top of Santa Ana Hill provides sweeping views and a chance to stand on the site of the city's birthplace.

My nephew and I had a nice time at Darwin's Observatory, the turtles were amazing. I highly recommend walking through this park and the out on the rocks that line the shoreline behind it. Scuba diving was awesome, I went out on an older wooden sailboat in excellent condition for a wonderful 2 tank dive. We saw a number of native fish to the islands, Hammer Head Sharks and other specie's I had not seen before. Food was awesome, especially if you enjoy fresh right from the boats freshness. Hiking was great too. You were able to crawl through lava formed tunnels and walk through them too. The sites on the island were amazing. Great surfing, we caught some really nice right breaks. Waves were awesome to to big to ride. Down hill skateboarding was a treat on really smooth asphalt roads on challaging hills. Tent a bike and really your the island and beaches. This was a great trip, spent a week in this island looking to go back and sport fish and dive some of the other islands real soon.

I was very fortunate to have Mario (the owner) as my guide, and he provided me with an exceptional experience today!!! Mario was nice, friendly and extremely knowledgeable in the local flora and fauna, and he made it very clear his primary interest was in my satisfaction with a memorable visit to Ecuador. First, we visited the Lara family farm where Mario and Alberto showed me how cocoa is made into dark chocolate bars and tasty hot chocolate beverages, and we even had an authentic home cooked Ecuadorian dish made by Ninfa Lara (who was also very friendly and welcoming, and an outstanding chef). After lunch, Mario and Jairo Lara took me to the protected forest of Churute for a small hike, where we found more than 12 howler monkeys, which was an amazing experience to hear them screaming and producing sounds so loud it makes them appear much larger than what they are!!! Then we also rented a motor boat and toured the mangrove forest preserve to look for exotic birds and crocodiles. I can say without a doubt you WILL NOT be disappointed with your experience by booking with this company!!!

Local guide with good English. Good factual information on main sites of interest. Had driver in private car, which, given the horrendous traffic gridlock and lack of parking in Quito old town, was essential! Felt rushed though, with request for coffee stop after 2 hours, dismissed.

Angel Yunda picked us up at our hotel on time for this wonderful tour. He answered our questions as we ambled to each of the animals featured along the board walk. Additionally, he took us to view the inside of the historical buildings at the park which were quite a treasure! He waited patiently as I snapped pictures in this relaxing environment. It almost felt like he was part of our family. The monkeys were so entertaining! The red mangroves were the tallest I had ever seen!
