10 Budget-friendly Things to do in Saipan That You Shouldn't Miss

July 20, 2021 Margarita Chappel

Many choose the Micronesian volcanic island of Saipan to tour the famous Grotto, an underwater limestone cavern plummeting seventy feet at its deepest point. The Grotto is home to a city of sea life, including turtles, coral, and reef sharks.  Land-lovers can find satisfaction in the Garapan Street market, a display of Saipan's unique food and craft tradition, or the World War II battlefields, a visual history of the Battle of Saipan.

Axe Murderer Dive Tours

I am taking a different approach to dive getaways. I do not like groups and will do everything I can to avoid them. Private guiding & instruction offers a much, much better experience for the customer and I want you to have the ultimate experience. I offer hotel pick up and drop off for my customers. I offer a full range of scuba certifications from Discover Dive through Divemaster and everything in between. I am also a very experienced dive guide with over 15,000 dives on Saipan. I typically book up in advance, so if you want to dive with me, please make reservations ahead of time. We have also added 3 bedrooms, a bathroom, full kitchen, free laundry facilities, a big back deck with 8 seat table and an 8 person jacuzzi. I offer free airport pick up if you stay with us, free breakfast each morning & unlimited jacuzzi time. I have created what I would consider the ultimate dive experience & stay, it is what I would want if I were the customer.

There is a ferry out to this very small island. (One can walk the perimeter in 15 - 20 minutes.) There are two swimming beaches, the best snorkeling is at the beach which is the farthest from the dock. I saw the greatest variety of fish very close to the shore here. I also saw the largest fish of anywhere on the island (and I hit every beach). There is a souvenir store here which is nice if you forgot sun block, but nothing unique was sold here. There is also a very nice, reasonably priced snack bar, and a buffet lunch if you want to make a day of it.

The road up to the top may be a tad intimidating for a mainlander but it is well worth it. The 360 degree view of the island is SO worth it. Just beautiful and inspiring to see the sparkling water surrounding this gorgeous island.

The hike will take 20-30 min so bring atleast 1liter of water. Better you go in low tide so the water is calm. Wear hiking shoes and gloves. Once you get there is a beautiful scenery. Just dont throw trash and dont leave it there.
