Marathon Lake is absolutely beautiful, and a "classic" dam make s it more attractive. It is not necessarily a tourist attraction, but a very nice place to stop and relax before heading out to your next destination.

Marathon Run Museum

If you think you have to be a Marathon runner to go here your wrong. Very interesting an excellent museum about the history of marathon running lots and lots to see a brilliant video plays in English charting the history right back to the start when a Greek soldier ran to Athens. We spent an hour there could have spent more time, it is only 2 euros to get in excellent value would have been happy to pay much more.

Ramnous Archaeological Site

Reviewed By ioannisv459 - London, United Kingdom

The site is unique, very well preserved, really worth visiting. However there is very limited information on the site and poor internet (better read in advance) and to reach the settlement you need to trek through a good 10 mins of very hard terrain. Closed shoes and a bottle of water is advised in the summer months. FYI so that you don't get disappointed, in the winter months the main site is closed (only the bases of the 2 temples are open for visiting) and the site closes at 3pm. Better call and ask before you visit!

It's a must see if you are in the area, the story of the battle is truly inspiring, check my picture of the story of the battle. A 30 minute visit is plenty of time to see the tomb and read the information boards. Entry fee is €6 and open from 8:30am to 3:00pm.we walked it using Google maps in 20 minutes from marathon Beach.
