We booked this hotel via the hotel website and were told the rooms were upgraded upon our arrival. The rooms were big and clean. I especially like the spring baths! This hotel has a total of 4 spring baths and open to male and female guests at alternatively. Moreover I enjoyed the breakfast and dinner, which were good with sashimi at dinner. The staff was friendly and helpful - a particular point to note is one of them can speak in putonghua fluently. It helped a lot!

Hidatei Hanaougi

=Glamorous Japanese style accommodation at ancient Hida-Takayama Japan= * The hot spring from Jindai spring gushes from 1200m underground. It is one of the few hot springs among the local accommodations. Its attractive spring quality feels like a rich beauty serum. If you touch your skin in the spring, you will feel the smooth silky texture. This particularly appeals to guests who love moist smooth skin and makes them visit again and again. * We serve you the very best out of the great variety of local fresh foods with Hida local sake according to the seasons. Wagyu Hida Beef Steak is the most popular main dish. Our selected beef supplier brings the finest quality Hida beef to us. The local Hida beef is famous for its marbling pattern but has no extra fat, and its texture is so soft it almost melts in the mouth. The cooking method for Hida beef varies including steak, shabu-shabu and sukiyaki. Dinner is the KAISEKI(Japanese traditional course meal).

Stayed 2 nites at this ryokan. Staff was friendly and efficient from Day 1, especially Atsushi. Most staff speak English. A nice property with both indoor and outdoor onsen. There’s a shuttle bus that runs between the train station and the ryokan which makes it very convenient for all guests. Food was good too.

Love the breakfast and the bed

Reviewed By Jiu Mu X

I was given the impression that the hotel was near to Nagoya Station. It was more than 10-minute walk from the station. Instead, it was a few minutes walk from Kokusai Center subway station, so it is better to take the Sakura-dori line subway from Nagoya station to Kokusai Center subway station on a rainy day or for those who have bulky luggage bags. Check-in was smooth. Hotel staff were polite and efficient. Room was clean and the size was ok, it could accommodate our 2 big luggage bags and still had ample space for walking. The simmons beds were comfortable. Buffet breakfast was yummy and the spread was good. I do not mind staying in this hotel again because of its price and nice breakfast. However, I feel that the room that I stayed in was not elderly friendly because the bathtub was very high, not easy for elderly to climb in. Not sure if they have rooms with more elderly friendly bathtubs.

Suimeikan

The Suimeikan is a ryokan that was established 80 years ago along the Hida River, where it currently remains sitting at the heart of Gero Onsen, one of the three most famous onsen locations in Japan. Guests can experience traditional Japanese culture inside the ryokan, which features a Japanese garden, a genuine Noh stage, as well as ceramic and art works. Guests can also enjoy hot springs with skin beautifying effects in three spots, including an open-air bath with an indoor bath, a large scenic bath, and a large communal indoor bath with a hinoki sauna. The communal scenic bath can be used 24 hours a day. We offer a variety of guest rooms in the Seiranso, Rinsenkaku, Hisenkaku, Sansuikaku manors. The hotel also features plenty of facilities such as a swimming pool, gym, beauty salon, and a bar. Shuttle Service Gero Station ⇔ Hotel *No prior reservation required. Shuttle will match limited express train arrivals to meet guests. The hotel is located just a 3 min walk from there.

Definitely worth a visit to Gero and Suimeikan if you are in the area.

Suimeikan was a really good hotel. We decided to stop in Gero which turned out to be a very nice traditional onsen town. Beautiful place. The hotel is just across the bridge from the main town. The hotel is big, beautiful and welcoming. It is a traditional Japanese onsen hotel and feels wonderful to the small details. The have a indoor and outdoor pool, game room, 3 different onsens, many different restaurants and a lobby lounge with a beautiful Japanese garden. Lots of parking space. There are three main buildings. We stayed in Sansui and had the new Japanese Western room. We had a corner room with a beautiful view of both the bridge and the garden. The room was cozy and comfortable. Because it was newly renovated it didn't smell like old smoke as I read in other reviews. The room was great for us. Dinner at the Japanese restaurant was super. Breakfast buffet was not very good, food just wasn't very good. We visited during Golden Week and the hotel was booked solid, however we never felt that the place was crowded. The hotel absorbs guests very well. Service is excellent, very friendly. Hotel was easy to use and enjoy. Hours for use were all really flexible. Some hotels are just too restrictive. Of the three onsens my favorite was the Big Cedar bath and it had a sauna, second was the Outdoor bath. The Panaroma bath seemed old. Definitely worth a visit to Gero and Suimeikan if you are in the area.

Amazing experience at this Ryokan in front of the beach. I stayed in room 211 with a private bath in the balcony. The view from the room was amazing and very beautiful. The shower was great also, located next to the balcony. The hotel has 2 different public baths. One of them is located in the terrace where you can observe the beautiful stars at night while relaxing in the bath. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. There is a ping pong table near the front office where you can play for free. The dinner and breakfast were very delicious and very abundant. I will definitely stay here again if I go to Shimoda.

Inatori Ginsuiso

INATORIGINSUISO is located on the east coast of Inatori Onsen of Izu. We are hot spring inn with a history of more than fifty years. "Hospitality" We believe it's the most important. There is a "customer expectations for service" slightly above "customers request". So think of is, is our "GINSUI people". We can understand it by each and every staff do their mind. And, it will come true in that we serve with a compassion. We believe so. Onsen with a origin, Izu of food, sea sparkling in silver, hearty dolls (it is called and hung chick) .... And we will provide the hospitality of GINSUI. We are looking forward to your visit.

Clean and quiet

Reviewed By bixierg

Don’t expect too much from the picture on TripAdvisor. The hotel is clean and surprisingly quiet, even having had a room directly beside the elevator. The room was spacious considering it is a business hotel but also comparatively expensive considering the location in the middle of nowhere. The furniture in the room is IKEA standard. Impressive however the big flatscreen TV. Besides sleeping there’s nothing you can do in the hotel. Mill restaurant and don’t waste your money on the breakfast. Overall OK when you just go there to sleep one night.
