The breakfast is a brunch, with the exquisite company of hummingbirds and other birds since food is placed at central points of the terrace for them. Do not hurry and enjoy this experience. The personnel is great, they really know the meaning of the phrase - what can I do for helping your stay to be wonderful?

It was actually the distance from the center that allowed me to appreciate the whole place. It was quiet, calm and definitely allowed me to relax. I was very close to nature which calmed my mind. The sound of birds, butterflies and even their house cats made me feel very calm. The staff were quite nice as someone else waited for me to come back even if I came back late. The owner was very nice and accomodating as well.

Beautiful retreat
Reviewed By welltravelled019Kind of in the middle of nowhere but the rooms are beautiful. Service is good. Breakfast was served at what time we wanted it. Only an hour back to Rio from here. Kind of surprised there are not more tourists here. Room is large with comfy King size bed,bigs screen tv,and our bathroom had a jacuzzi tub which we enjoyed. Nice grounds outside with a pool.

Wonderful gardens and surroundings.
Reviewed By Martyn AThe hotel is located in the Finnish Colony of Penedo and is a 10-15 minute walk from the centre. The real pluses here are the lovely gardens in which there is a pool and a small sauna with jacuzzi. You see plenty of tropical birds flying around into the trees and the surrounding scenery is tremendous with Itatiaia close by. There is also a lovely conservatory as part of the reception area where you can sit and admire the views. The rooms are very clean and nicely decorated and are reasonably sized. There is a very good breakfast provided. Minor irritants are that the shower had to be on minimum flow to be warm. As soon as you increased the flow the water became hot, while the water from the hand basin is always hot so you are cleaning your teeth in hot water. On the other hand the Jacuzzi never got warm enough to stay in for more than a moment. nevertheless overall we enjoyed our experience at this hotel/pousada as it was close enough to the town and as we didn't have a car this was ideal.

Stayed at the attachment standard room (called master) with a nice space, bathroom, a balcony and park space. Don't try this one cuz the wifi connection doesn't work. If you are traveling on business it will be a thing. And the breakfast it's awful: not much of a diversity of things like breads, fruits or something else. If you like eggs you need find someone to make it. Imagine bacon.

Over rated reviews, disappointing experience
Reviewed By eehotelReviews and a high note lead us to this fairly new B&B. The rooms are spacious, but with lots of empty and unusable space. Like the varanda, with no chairs and no hammock!!!! There is a problem with the water system, so that tap water is a tiny stream and the hygienic shower just to show... we were told all the rooms were comparable or worse than ours. The showers are electric (two in the box). The sheets, praised in reviews, do not fit the beds properly. The breakfast is good, but served only at 8:30h, kind of late for those that are there for tracking. The surrounding scenery (if you choose to walk until breakfast is served) is ordinary, at best. It is quite close to the road, Penedo, the gorgeous Itatiaia National Park and 17km from Visconde de Mauá. The staff is OK and the kitchen staff awfully nice. Wifi is just OK. We moved to another place: for 10% more we got one 100% better.

Clean room but need repair
Reviewed By Lucas CClean rooms. We got a big room with heater inside. Bathrooms need repair. Doors are old. Showers are old. The water tap are not working very well. Have 2 swimming pools, one outside with cold water and other with warm water inside. Have dry sauna. Be careful the coin you take to play in the games need to pay. Why need to pay for somewhere you already paid to stay and enjoy. Breakfast it's quiet good. But the first impression I got is not worth for the price. Have TV in the room but just few channels.

nightmare holiday
Reviewed By ffvazI spent the carnival with my family there. It was not worth half the price we paid, because of the poor conditions of the chalets. The oven almost killed us twice; the linen were cheap and worn; the sofa had a big hole that prevented us from seating in it. All other guests we talked to were under similar conditions and very upset. Also the small road leading to the Pousada had passages covered with deep and large muddy puddles, and we and many others almost got stuck in there with our cars. I think the owner acknowledges the terrible conditions, because she required us to pay fully upfront on arrival even though we had already made a wire transfer for the reservation. This way, there was no way we could claim our money back or refuse to pay. All in all, we left some three days early despite having paid them in full. I have never undergone such thing in anywhere else. At least, despite overall bad conditions of the accomodations and the unfair charge and price, I must say that the staff itself was attentious and supportive nonetheless.
