Reviewed By damony811The Bay is a lovely little hotel right on the beach. Our room was a great size with a small balcony area. Next time we’d go for one of the beach facing rooms. The hotel is spotlessly clean and has a lovely laid back vibe. The food was fine but nothing fancy, you’d come for the view and friendly staff as opposed to the cuisine. We’ll definitely be back on our next visit to Mauritius.

Reviewed By Ruth SWe were welcomed by Etienette with a soft drink and shown to the room. The new hotel is very modern and exceptionally clean. The staff cannot do too much for you and as well as an ample continental breakfast with squeeze your own fresh orange juice and eggs any way and croissants. I mentioned that I would like a bigger room which at the time I booked was unavailable but we were offered a family room which has facilities for reheating food in the microwave and plates to prepare food. Jessica the owners wife filled in when Etienette was unavailable was very pleasant and this hotel has a salt water and chlorinated pool with sun loungers. The room is cleaned daily with fresh towels and good quality linen. . It is very good value and an enjoyable stay.

Our accommodation facilities are also ideal for business persons. The apartments do not have kitchenette, but fridge, microwave, kettle and cutleries are available at reception upon request.

Reviewed By Peggie_loveI stayed in room 11a for 10 days It was terrible… cockroaches, ants, mosquitoes in the room. It was filthy dirty. Air conditioning did not work. No hot water in the shower. The swimming pool was really bad… missing tiles, broken steps into the pool. Bed was not changed for 10 days..they said I had to pay extra for that. The decor was really bad.. needs refurbishment. The management did nothing about my concerns. I had already paid for the room so had no choice to stay. They refused to refund my money so I could go elsewhere. They offered me a free night as compensation… I declined.. 10 days in the hell hole was enough. I would not recommend this place to anyone… especially with children. Dangerous electric wires exposed. Hazardous swimming pool. I stayed in the room from 29 October till 8th November. I made a video which I will post on the flic en Flac Facebook page. Avoid, avoid, avoid. The photos on trip advisor are many years old… the hotel badly needs work before putting guests in the room. It was disgusting.

At first sight Le Gite du Bonheur features atmosphere and activities of hotels, but the owners reassure that the property is a true B&B with the homely warmth and friendship of a Mauritian family. The house built as a home to this family of 5, wants to now share the joy, peace and love it experienced to the guests. Even the meals proposed at Le Gite du Bonheur give a unique experience about the different cultures on the island with simple meals that Mauritians are used to, in their everyday life. The main objective of Le Gite du Bonheur would be to bear the meaning of its name "The cottage of happiness". Despite this B&B looking more like a villa ,the name chosen "cottage" is deliberate to clearly show the happiness and cosiness someone may feel when being at Le Gite du Bonheur. Coming to Le Gite du Bonheur, is like never leaving home...

The amenities were perfect for our needs and the location is very nicely situated for exploring the West. Robin, Cody and Juanita took good care of us. Highly recommended for a self catering Mauritian experience.

Reviewed By chrisberlin27Great location! The host is very helpful and my son and me really enjoyed our stay. The rooms, beds and facilities are clean and there is even a pool. Host and place are very children-friendly. It`s a 5 Minutes walk to the beach, restaurants and shops are nearby. You can explore everything else by bus. Neala and her staff are helping with pleasure to work out trips and excursions.

Memorable family holiday
Reviewed By Chrisjohn2015Our party of five, including a seven year old, stayed in two juniot suites on an "all inclusive" basis for 11 nights in October/November. OK so the flight was long (we left it too late to get a direct flight) and a bit of a pain but that was more than compensated for by the warm reception and excellent facilities at the Long Beach resort. The accomodation was very comfortable and the food amazing. With the choice of Chinese, Italian and Japanese style restaurants, as well as the main buffet and beach side dining areas we were spoilt for choice and certainly didn't feel the need to dine out. The bar provided a great interlude for evening relaxation and the local entertainment (which I would normally avoid) was enjoyable. We were happy to spend most days on the massive private (coral) beach ot around one of the pool areas which were kept very clean. Towels for the pools were provided as needed and we didn't have to worry about finding sunbeds. We took one day out on a speedboat trip which proved to be very interesting with opportunities for snorkling and visiting small islands off shore with a basic BBQ lunch. Our crew (Fred and Nico) were delightful and great fun. Altogether a really great break and yes we most certainly would consider going back.

The newly opened B&B in Flic en Flac on the west coast of Mauritius offers a unique experience to all kinds of travellers - backpackers, couples, groups of friends or families travelling with children. The hotel is centrally well situated in a calm district of Flic en Flac and within walking distance from the beach as well as the plenty of restaurants, souvenir shops and the town's commercial centre with supermarket (less than 5 minutes). At Lariad you can enjoy the two swimming pools (outdoor and indoor), the exotic garden, the balconies which offer a great view and a fresh breeze and of course our welcoming staff who will always be glad to help you plan your next day: visits around the island, water activities, hiking, golfing, karts, exploring the adventure park Casela - only listing a few of them. Come and see for yourself!
Not a Hotel, but a very good BnB.
Reviewed By Dave TStayed at the Lariad for 14 nights in late January/early February. The taxi was waiting, as arranged by the BnB at the airport to meet my flight, which showed a promising start to the holiday. The BnB rooms are basic, spacious, with adequate storage space, a small fridge, quietish aircon and a good sized comfortable double bed. More importantly they are kept very clean by the daily cleaning staff who do an excellent job - well done!! All the staff are helpful in every way and you are greeted with a "Hello" or "Bonjour" and a smile in every passing. Special mention to Marie Laure, Patrick & Roger. The outside pool is small, but perfectly adequate (considering the fabulous Flic En Flac bach is only 5 minutes walk away), and it is cleaned and maintained regularly. Like most tourist lodgings at the end of a busy season, a little TLC was needed here & there (garden areas, the indoor pool was not accesible ), however this in no way spoilt my holiday. Couple of minor observations:- - breakfast choice could be improved or rotated, especially for visitors staying for longer periods. That said, the simple breakfast food in general was fine, with excellent service. - hotel arranged excursions (especially scooter hire) did seem a little expensive so I did not book any. The public bus system is very cheap & a great experience. I had 3 "bus tours" to Quatre Bornes, Tamarin & Port Louis using the system & after your first journey it is relatively easy to understand & use. All in all, a nice BnB, great resort, good BnB location, lovely staff and I would return again, in fact I intend to, in the not too distant future!

Great view on the sea from the balcony! We recommend booking your stay with Laurent at Terre et Mer to enjoy Mauritius Island!
