10 Bed and Breakfast Inns in North Male Atoll: Best hotel deals for 2023

May 10, 2023 Myesha Cogley

If you’re looking for a Robinson Crusoe experience, you can still find that thatched-hut-on-the-beach vibe in the North Malé Atoll. But this chain of 50 or so palm-shaded islands in the Maldives has been stepping up its game lately with sleek, stylish accommodations. These days, even the islands themselves are designer. The newly opened Patina Maldives and Ritz Carlton Maldives sit on an archipelago that construction crews built in the Indian Ocean. Divers love North Malé Atoll for spots like Manta Point, where manta rays congregate so they can be “cleaned” by small fish. You can even snorkel with curious hawksbill turtles. North of the capital city of Malé are some prime surf spots.

Nice for a transit hotel

Reviewed By Veronique2007

We arrived late - 22:30-23:00, the hotel came to pick up us at the airport for free (a 20 minutes ride) - quite smooth. We were 4 couples in the van and they processed our check in one after the other - I was a bit tired and I wished that they could have more people to to the check in. The room was on level 1 next to the reception - It was quite noisy as the room was not soundproof. I put some earplug and it was alright after that to sleep. Breakfast had a limited options of food for their continental brunch but their a la carte menu for lunch was more varied and yummy. They offered another complementary transport to go back to the airport the next morning. The service was great! The staff were quite nice, always smiling and helpful at all time.

Good stopover before going to or coming from resorts

Hotel Lonuveli which is on the same island as the airport in Hulhumale was a decent reasonably priced option to rest before our late night flight. The room rate includes roundtrip airport transportation which was a huge plus. The room is not the most spacious but it’s a nice clean space. Good number of restaurants within walking distance along with convenience stores which makes it a great stopover before heading out to or returning from the resorts.

Nice location, but no service standard at all. Poor customer service

Reviewed By ShaaahDXB

To begin with, I must agree that the hotel is located at a very convenient location and on beach front. Rooms are spacious and fitted with all required amenities. On arrival, I was met by a maldivian staff in reception who struggled to find my booking eventhough I had reserved my room on booking.com. after about 15 min it was sorted out and i was asked to sit in the lobby while a drink was served. I was taken to my room within 30 min of arrival and it was around 3pm. I clarified the roof top restaurant opening hours at the reception prior to check in as I intended to dine at the hotel and did not want to go out. I was informed that the roof top restaurant would be open daily form 2pm in to the evening. So, around 1900hrs, I went up to roof top. It was empty and no staff was visible. I stayed for about 20 min and saw one kitchen staff passing bye. I walked up to him as he did not bother to come n ask me what I was doing there. I told him I was there to get a meal. Then he just went out saying nothing. After few min a waitress came to me with a menu. No greeting as she approached me. No smile at all. Seems like she felt I dont need to be respected as a guest. Maybe my skin color was not her taste n she maybe feeling I was a poor guy with no money. Then I asked her why she was so rude and why even others did not care to talk to me even when I was seated there for morethan 20 min . I told her i was paying the amount hotel demanded me to pay and that it was the same rate anyone would have paid to stay and that i did not even negotiate for the rate. I asked her to provide me the service that would reflect value for what i paid. Anyway she listened and as i asked for manager she said he was not there and was in male. Finally i got my food which was tasteless . My point t here is, when you check the hotels in hulhumale on various booking sites, it is clear that this is one of the most expensive hotel charging you premium rates. But the service is horrible. Also the hotel housekeeping works at odd hours causing a lot of disturbance as they move noisily on the floor. Also the linen does not smell fresh and toiletries were not refilled. The general cleaners there have no intention to listen and help you. For the rate this hotel charges, I would recommend everyone to really avoid this fake hotel. Poor service n no value for money. You could have a better experience in many other good hotels in Hulhumale for much more less amount than what this hotel charges Really, horrible service and I will never return to this place.

The best excursion we had in Maldives

Reviewed By B2371YZbeatrizm

Staying at this hotel was the best decision we made arriving to Dhifushi. The staff makes you feel very welcomed and helps you with anything you need. The rooms are very clean and regarding the design it is one of the best we've stayed regarding this range of price-quality. But besides all of this, Ibrahim tooks us for 2 excursions that were the best we had in Maldives!! We stayed in other islands, but with Ibrahim you feel that he really loves what he does, and brings you to the best experiences on the sea!! We had such nice day that I'll never forget and I thank them (all of them from the hotel) to have taken part in this feeling. I definitely recommend everyone to go there and of course I'm going back there if I come again to Dhifushi!!!!

Clean but owner is shady

Reviewed By TiffanyKahl

Room was very small but clean. Decent for an overnight stay to catch a seaplane. Breakfast was lovely. Don't request a wake up call because you will be told to set an alarm on your phone. Owner, Thomas, told me upon check out that he "had a problem with me" and said Agoda (who I booked through) hadn't paid him for my stay. I figured it was pay upon stay as I wasn't charged at time of booking 9 months prior or since. I paid him, even though it was significantly higher than the rate I booked via Agoda, and was on my way. I got home a few days later and realized Agoda had ALSO charged me for the room. I contacted Thomas immediately about a refund, less the water we took from the minibar, and was never responded to. I tried to dispute the charge on my cc and he fought it and so has now been paid twice for my stay. Agoda will also not respond to me. The cleanliness and breakfast was certainly not worth what I paid. Steer clear.
