Nice Stay
Reviewed By amannarinoPretty good hotel in a well located position. We spend just a weekend but it fits perfectly our needs. It has an excellent breakfast, parking and the staff is very polite and careful. We got a family room (2 adt + 2 chd) that worked fine.

Beautful place, Poor Service
Reviewed By Raphaela_BRI book a room with a jacuzzi, the only difference between my room and a cheaper one was the jacuzzi. The first thing I did when I checked in was to try to have a bubble bath, but the Jacuzzi was not working, I called the front desk and they send someone to look at it and fix it, but the person couldn’t fix anything. They asked me to wait and they sent someone else 1 hour later, that person could not fix the jacuzzi either and said only next day they could try something else. I tried to have a shower, but it was veeery hot or veeeery cold, again I called the front desk and they sent someone, but he couldn’t fix it either. I had a very cold shower and went to bed. The next day I was informed that the jacuzzi and the shower were broken beyond repair anda thet they didn't have any other room. I took a shower in the pool area that day. The next day I checked out and asked for a discount, since I couldn’t enjoy much, but they said no. Since I had already paid before I got there, there was nothing I could do besides complain. I could have been an incredible experience since the hotel is gorgeous, breakfast is amazing, the pool is decent, but it wasn’t.

Beautiful retreat
Reviewed By welltravelled019Kind of in the middle of nowhere but the rooms are beautiful. Service is good. Breakfast was served at what time we wanted it. Only an hour back to Rio from here. Kind of surprised there are not more tourists here. Room is large with comfy King size bed,bigs screen tv,and our bathroom had a jacuzzi tub which we enjoyed. Nice grounds outside with a pool.

Reviewed By FrequentTraveler039I love to travel and go different places and one of my measures of whether or not I liked a place was whether or not I would return. In the case of Ninho da Arara, I would return to this pousada again and again and again. It is a great respite after fun in Rio to head up into the mountains for a long weekend or a week to stay in this pousada. The owner and staff are very sophisticated, international, multilingual and just generally know how to run a local chic pousada. Davis and the staff there are great about responding to their guests i.e. they know when to be closely attentive or when to back off and let the guests simply "chill". As well, they have a great whisky selection (which is difficult in the complex Brazilian market).

Great view, lovely host
Reviewed By philippevguchtMy stay at Quinta do Alto was a very enjoyable experience. The rooms were everything they needed to be and everything was at a level of quality you should be able to expect from a hotel/b&b. I wasn't overwhelmed by the amount of choice regarding the breakfast, but there was enough of it and the products were all fresh and delicious. They also offer meals during the other times of the day and what we had was of great quality. Now, the location. The place is located between petropolis and theresopolis and both places are about half an hour away. The poussada is located near the top of a mountain and the view if beautiful, especially when lying near the swimming pool. Being so high however, means it was kind of hard to reach the first time though, but that problem dissapears quickly. Don't expect to reach this car without a car though, so foreigners should absolutely have a rental car if they want to stay here. Finally, the host. The fact that i will spend a paragraph writing about him should say enough, i guess. He was very helpful and was part of the reason i was so fond of this place. He would always strike up a conversation and was a very good french speaker (i can't judge his english though). I highly recommend the poussada if you want a calm stay near petro- and theresopolis.
