I visited this hotel with a group of Dutch people. The owner of the hotel was always available behind the desk and extremely helpful (getting taxi, booking restaurants, calling to musea etc.). The ladies who took care of our breakfast and diner were also very friendly and easy to go. The hotel has a great roof terras where we could stay and rest. The rooms were large and have all the necessary things you need in a hotel.

No drinking water

Reviewed By I2496SVfraserm

This must be one of the few hotels in the world which do not provide free drinkable water. There is no water provided and when I asked for some I was told there is a charge - unbelievable. There is an upstairs gym which is very noisy during opening hours. On the plus side the hotel is clean and staff friendly. Food in the adjacent restaurant is reasonably good.

Loved Caiman House !

Reviewed By 5pauliner

Stayed one night at Caiman House in March of 2022. My only regret is we only stayed one night ! Can't say enough about the wonderful , welcoming , educational and incredible Caiman House experience . Situated on the Rupununi River the Caiman House is accessible by land or water. We were the only visitors at the time so we had the Lodge to ourselves. Our room was spotlessly clean with a nice big bathroom and the room had a fan. Loved the design of the Lodge with a communal seating area and also a private deck upstairs which if we had more time I would have used more ! The hammocks on the porch were lovely for the afternoon siesta. It was really nice to be in the village and hear the children playing and people going about their day. Delene Lawrence the Manager of Caiman House gave us a warm welcome and an orientation before lunch. The food was really delicious . Very fresh and tasty and plenty of it. In the late afternoon, Rambo our guide took us out for a birding boat ride. A lovely stretch of the Rupununi River . Very birdy ! I knew we were going to be doing the Caiman capture later but I was mostly interested in the birds and primates ... However.....once we met Anthony and his Caiman crew , who were on another boat , the evening got vey exciting ! For the next couple of hours we watched Anthony and his crew expertly capture a large Caiman on the first attempt ! They carefully brought it ashore and proceeded to collect and log all sorts of measurements and observations All the while Anthony explained and showed us everything he was doing. Every person involved was so careful and professional in their handling of this magnificent animal. The next morning with our limited time we had a quick tour of the new crafts building by Shamir Khan who is also the community leader. We were so impressed with the incredibly beautiful woven grass panels and the pottery. Shamir explained to us the history of the crafts project and the vision of the village. I have to find room for some panels in my own home. Very impressive. ! Then we had a quick tour of the river turtle project where there were many hatchlings who will eventually be released back into the river. At the time we were there the river was very high and the community was busy relocating turtle eggs from nests along the river banks as they were in danger of being washed away. We loved Caiman House for all the aforementioned reasons as well as knowing we were supporting so many worthwhile and important cultural and conservation projects. Caiman House has a lot to offer the visitor and will also plan short or multi day excursions for all sorts of activities. A very cool place indeed.

We have stayed here a few times and loved it! The staff is professional and helpful. They were very strict with the COVID regulations as well. I also noticed they were taking care of minor cracks on the outside of the wall when I was there. That impressed me, they are really maintaining the building well.
