Excellent accommodation and amazing island!

Reviewed By Monica L

This was an amazing place to stay! My partner and I stayed with Marshall for just two nights which was certainly not long enough! The accommodation was excellent- very comfortable, clean (and I loved reading on the window seat in the living room) and the breakfast each day was fresh and delicious. Marshall was an absolutely fantastic host, very helpful and caring and we enjoyed getting to know him during our stay. We went on the Island Tour and Anatakitaki Cave tour, both of which were informative and highly enjoyable. This was a beautiful island, the highlight of my trip, and we cannot wait to visit again!

Amuri Guesthouse

A delightful place to stay in Aitutaki

Reviewed By sunnysideupCornwall

I stayed here for a whole month, and was thrilled with my choice of Amuri Guesthouse. It is excellent value for money and lovely Rose the caretaker went out of her way to be helpful, giving us local tips, bringing us fruit and generally checking that everything was fine. The house is in a tranquil setting, only a 2 minute walk from the stunning beach yet near little shops and not far from bike/scooter rentals and a 15 min walk to the Bluesky (wifi) /post office. Chickens and the occasional piglets wander around the pretty garden, the rooms are pleasant (with crisp, clean bedding!) and the kitchen well-stocked for home cooking. Thank you Rose for making my stay such a special one.

Babe's Place

Great base for your Mangaia stay

Reviewed By DanO68

This was the only option in Mangaia at the time, but we were suitably impressed. We were welcomed at the airport and transported back to the gusthouse by the friendly host. The location is decent, just on the southern end of the main town, Onerua. There are a couple of basic grocery markets in the town but no restaurants or eateries. The accommodation consists of a block of 4 units, all backing onto a covered common area, each with a semi-private veranda with chairs/table. The units are basic but very comfortable and clean. There were no problems with dogs barking or other noise – all very quiet and peaceful – we had great sleeps. There were a couple of friendly cats who kept us company at times. Electricity is 24/7 with solar powered hot water (meaning no sun, no hot water). There is no TV but there is a Vodaphone Wifi hotspot there and 3G cellular coverage for internet access. All meals are included in the price and we found the food to be basic but tasty. Breakfast generally comprised fruit and donuts/toast, lunch was generally sandwiches of some kind, and dinner was either chicken/fish/goat with taro and a salad. The ladies working the kitchen and guesthouse were great – very helpful, friendly, and hospitable. They really made us feel welcome there. However, one complaint is that they never came in to clean the room during our 4 night stay. It would’ve been nice to have at least some kind of cleaning service or towel change once or twice during our stay. They even organized a couple of fat-tire mountain bikes for us which we used as transport around the island. They also rent motor scooters and cars. Overall we had a great stay at Babes and recommend it to other travelers. We had a great experience there.

Great guesthouse in the heart of Atiu

Reviewed By audelsol

This is the perfect guesthouse to make the most of your stay on amazing Atiu. First, you will be welcomed at the airstrip with a divine local flowers and plants garland and you will be introduced to the main places of the island on the way to the guesthouse. The house is very nicely decorated with Andrea's originals tivaivai embroideries. There is everything you need in the shared kitchen and the bathroom is basic but comfortable. The location of the house is perfect, in the heart of the village. Both outside and inside lounges are very comfortable. As it used to be a family house, you will feel at home! Juergen or Andrea will arrange for you any tours you would be interested in. I would highly recommend George's bird and nature tour and the AnaTakitaki cave tour. But I am sure the other activities are worth the visit too. If you have a spare day, you can rent a small truck at the shop nearby and make your own tour of the island. And go freely to the coral gardens for instance.

Tom's Beach Cottage

spacious 'n warm/great manager

Reviewed By camillek851

I stayed in Tom's Beach Cottage while I was in Aitutaki this March right before the covid lockdown. This is the cheapest accommodation in my knowledge. Don't have any expectation for this place. With $35NZD/night it is down to earth simple with some broken/not working properly facilities. There's no aircon, but you get your OWN ROOM with a queen size bed oh yes and a fan plus shared kitchen and toilet/shower rooms. Theresa is the manager who takes care this place with her sons, she is very nice. She even took time off from her work taking me to the hospital and stayed there entire time with me! Location is great close to town and right infront of the lagoon. You can call (682)31051 for booking. Please mind it cost $2.5NTZ/min, and her sons don't really speak English. Do not call during the day as Theresa is working in school. They used to have gmail for contact, but she told me now they have new gmail box, and I forgot to write it down...

Natura Kamana Beach Bungalows

So much better than we dreamt!

Reviewed By itamer

We've stayed in 6 different places over the years and this time we hit the jackpot. The house is amazing, so many different places to hang out, the pool is gorgeous, the snorkelling right out front is the best we've had, walking distance to Wigmores and Vaima restaurant. We didn't expect housekeeping during our stay so that was a pleasant surprise and the pool was vacuumed every couple of days. We didn't have a house dog but there was a cat that made sure we had something to pet. The house comes with kayaks, snorkelling gear and reef shoes. A nice touch is the Bluetooth speaker for playing music. There was aircon if you need it but expect to pay lots! The review about the TV not working, it works just fine, it's Raro that is the problem. Bring a book. The house has a wifi hotspot. Check out Vodafone's deals to get a decent package and buy a sim at the airport when you arrive.

Raro getaway

My husband & I enjoyed thoroughly the quiet and homely getaway from the tourist areas of Raro. Where we enjoyed the hospitality and company of the Fisher family. We highly reccommend this accomodation. We plan to return annually to stay with them if not every two years :)
