Driving along the extensive sealed, country driveway, immediately gave one a sense of tranquility. The house is expansive and beautiful, filled with hand-made wooden furniture and artefacts. The frames around the mirrors are works of art. Terry and Greg were wonderful, warm hosts, happy to do anything to make their guests stay a great one. The gardens overlook the Clarence River, and walking on the lawns or relaxing on the day beds is just what a busy couple needs to unwind! The breakfast and optional dinner, made by Terry, were delicious. We would love to return to take part in a cooking retreat in their fabulous Camp Kitchen. Once again, the hand made wooden furniture is to be seen to be believed. We highly recommend this wonderful BnB and will definitely return!

Typical country pub

Reviewed By David S

Old pub in the heart of town. I booked for 3 nights and for $50 a night, I wasn't expecting The Ritz. The accommodation is on the first floor, above the bar areas, so it can be a bit noisy if you're planning an early night. My room contained two single beds, a bunk bed, ceiling fan and a sink with separate hot and cold taps (the cold didn't work). It was not airconditioned, nor were the beds fitted with electric blankets. Having said that, extra blankets were supplied and I was not cold despite the fairly cool temperatures outside. There were no wardrobes or drawers and the carpet has seen better days. The shared bathroom/toilet area has been renovated and was as good as you might expect in a motel offering private facilities (and charging considerably more). TV, microwave oven and tea/coffee making facilities were available in the guests/residents lounge area. I only ate at the pub on one occasion. The menu is fairly typical pub bistro food and reasonably priced. I enjoyed the schnitzel I ordered. Breakfast is not served at the pub, but the early-opening River Cafe across the road fills that void very well. Boys, if you're looking for a cheap, no-frills stay in Maclean, this is the place for you (but perhaps not the wife and kids).

The staff were very welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Thank you!

When I arrived at ‘Andavine’, I was met by two of the most obliging and, I must say, engaging people I have met in many years. Anne and David were the perfect hosts and it is quite clear why they have chosen a B&B operation as their preferred lifestyle. The accommodation was of the highest standard in terms of cleanliness and comfort and the breakfast included options to keep the fussiest of travellers happy. The premises have been thoughtfully renovated in the style of the original building – having the aesthetics that can only be generated by those who have experienced and understand the real country style of living. It is no coincidence that this is a true reflection of the personal warmth exhibited by the owners. I am happy to convey these sentiments at any time and highly recommend ‘Andavine’ as the perfect place to stay if ever you are in Grafton. Brian, Hervey Bay

Clean sheets..... But dirty, dirty quilt covers ..

Reviewed By 43christinec

I have stayed at the Crown Motel many times in the past never had any reason to complain. Staff were always very helpful, room always clean and tidy, always a good price, usually 2 adults and 2 young children, we are given a room at the far side of the carpark away from the hotel/pub. Sadly the original owners have retired and its under new management. I rang up to book for Friday and Saturday night, was told I would need a family room and it would cost $170 a night (which was a lot more expensive than usual.) when I ask if that was their best price, I was told yes and it was the last room they had as they were booked out. The room was the closest to the pub, I didn't complain as I thought they were booked out!, not true there was only our, plus one other being used. Sadly although the sheets were fresh and clean, the quilt covers were filthy dirty and very old. When I complained to management, the lady staff manager blamed it on other staff, expressed no sympathy, saying they had only taken over 4 months ago. When I told her I would never stay there again she said, Sorry to hear that, but that's fine!! A lovely view of the river is no compensation is dirty bed cloths, I don't want to sleep in a bed covers other people have slept in, or rudeness from a staff member
