Lovely Posada/BnB
Reviewed By Andrea BThis is a lovely Posada/BnB. Our room was small, with one queen sized bed and another in the loft, but we are three adults and were plenty comfortable. It was very sweetly decorated and had access to a lovely, relaxing terrace. In the morning, we had a simple but good homemade breakfast which cost around $250 mxn for three people. The owner doesn’t speak English and I don’t speak Spanish, but we shared our love of houseplants using google translate. All in all a good value and pleasant stay.

ok motel in an interesting town
Reviewed By sswksqThis is a budget hotel...It is clean and has a nice swimming pool but the rooms are small and unattractive. There is a single lightbulb hanging in the bathroom...tho we did have hot water available for the shower. The staff was ok tho not helpful when the music was blaring at 11:00 at night at the bar across the street in the lake. (My husband went to the bar and asked them to turn down the music...which they then did....) Staff did take our clothes to a lavandaria...which was very helpful. No english is spoken by staff. There is a area above the lobby which is nice to enjoy a view over the lake. The Catemacho area is very interesting and we really enjoyed going to the small nearby town of Sontecomapan...where we got a boat ride to a lagoon/beach on the Gulf coast/jungle rivers...amazing!!

Hard beds, great garden and breakfast
Reviewed By FeuerspatzThe hotel is located just across the stree from the lake and boat tour providers. Catemaco Center is within walking distance. The pros: beautiful garden and Pool area with many birds, also humming birds, gorgous Mexican warm and cold breakfast buffet served in the garden pavillon, good location, free parking. Upper floor rooms have a veranda facing the garden, nice place to sit in the evening. The cons: extremely hard beds, if you like this you will like this place. We had both back pains after our 3days stay and would not return. Rooms are very basic and a bit woran and torn. For Catemaco, in the days before New Years Eve, the Anejos are around, a tradition with masquerade and marimba music, making the otherwise a bit quiet town very lively. Just Google Anejos de Catemaco. Catemaco itself was fine once, but we would not return.

Reviewed By Pipicat63We originally booked to stay here for two nights, ended up staying four but wish we could have stayed longer. The hosts are fantastic people, it was a privilege to meet them all. The situation is incredible, fantastic views, wonderful food, really relaxing place. Thoroughly recommend it.

A lovely stay in Catemaco
Reviewed By Lauren WWe spent a relaxing and enjoyable four nights in Catemaco partially due to this cheap and cheerful hotel. The hotel itself is very dated but the rooms are clean, the location is great (right beside the zocalo), the wifi fast and reliable and the service is friendly. We paid by the day and when we got our third night we were told that the fourth would be free which made our stay even cheaper. The breakfasts offered downstairs were $45 peso for a plate of eggs with tortillas, frijoles and fried banana also with a coffee and fresh orange juice. A great start to our days. Overall we had outstanding service from the ladies running it and would definitely recommend for someone who wants a cheap hotel. Also I must add that Catemaco is a gorgeous place to visit in general!

Reviewed By Arianna BExcelente hostal con personal muy antento el cuarto donde nos hospedanos constaba de 3 habitaciones y 2 baños ideal para un viaje de amigos o familia. Precios accesibles. Tiene restaurante, el servicio de Internet sólo funcionó en el lobby a los cuartos no llegaba la señal.

Beautiful rooms - Fun roof top - great location
Reviewed By StuartandDeneseWe were so surprised at how lovely the rooms had been decorated. The decor was very tasteful, and the bathroom was very nicely done. We enjoyed the roof top patio and pool. The hotel is perfectly located next to the malecon and the lake. The front desk folks were polite, but not overly helpful. We never could find the restaurant open - we tried one day for breakfast, once for coffee, and once for lunch.
