A relaxing oasis in a beautiful region
Reviewed By magali73We came to La Bellière by luck and we discovered a very relaxing place. The hosts are lovely, full of nice tips (especially for restaurants in the neighborhood), they can lend you bikes for a tour around the dombes with binoculars to spot the birds. And there is the relaxing effect of La Bellière : the beds are so nice, you'll never get up as early as you thought, and the breakfast is so good, you can spend the day at this table :) Still make sure to the visit the Parc des Oiseaux also in Villars, it is beautiful. We will probably come back for another relaxing time.

Reviewed By pete2124Breakfast buffet was wiped out half an hour before end of breakfast. Staff was overwhelmed with work and was extremely slow. Cleanliness of rooms under par. Functioning vacuum cleaning is badly needed.

Reviewed By Katrien VWe passed by on our hiking trip and were lucky enough to get the last room available. It was the simple room (without sauna etc). We were very warmly welcomed by the hosts who are clearly very passionate about this b&b. Our room was very clean, spacious, beautifully decorated with a bed we now want to recreate at home. The height of the bed was perfect for getting out with sore muscles. My only remark is the shower/bathtub, which does not have a curtain or screen. This makes it difficult to shower without flooding the bathroom. We didn't eat at the restaurant.

This building of the 18th century completely renovated opens you its 5 rooms(chambers). At the foot of the Mount Myon in Revermont you will have a pleasant stay in Ain. That you come to our place to rest(base), take advantage of the swimming pool, to go hiking on paths, to visit the close medieval villages, either still to practise the paragliding, the riding, our house is the ideal starting point. The overnight stay is 80€ for a couple, an included breakfast.

Reviewed By SweetspotfortravelThis was our mid way stopover, driving from the North to the South of France, Marie was very welcoming, travelling with our 2 kids (5&8), the pool was nice after a long drive. We had 2 rooms next to each other upstairs. The grounds are beautifully maintained , so are the house and the rooms. They each had an ensuite shower and toilet, tv and small desk. There‘s a little common area just for guests on the ground floor, with couches,coffee machine, sink, small fridge. There is also a sitting area upstairs on the landing which is like a mezzanine. There were complimentary drinks on offer in the fridge incl water which was a nice touch. Their 2 dogs were beautiful & friendly. The spacious parking is inside the property, it can handle 6 cars comfortably. We didn’t opt for the dinner or have the breakfast ( incl) as we had to leave at 6 am the next morning to avoid traffic. The only 2 things I would remark is the smell of cigarette smoke in the common downstairs area which rose to the top landing and throughout the hallway leading to the rooms. We kept the room doors closed to avoid it getting into the rooms but it still creeped in. The 2nd thing is, it was quite hot, with the warmer weather outside, the rooms got hot despite keeping everything closed during the day and they didn’t really cool off at night even with the windows wide open. There was 1 very big fan and 1 portable AC available but we didn’t ask to use them as they were quite cumbersome. We had a tower fan with us ( as we are used to french places not having AC so we bring our own everywhere we go) so we used that. It was still hot. With summers getting warmer and warmer hopefully upgrades like combination electric heater/Ac units is something the owners will consider... ( this goes for all french bed’n breakfasts).

We arrived late afternoon to find the reception closed, doors locked and had to phone through to get someone to let us in. Our room was okay, quite small for a double, clean but old fashioned and in need of some TLC. The en suite was a good size, everything worked, but no extractor so a complete steam up after a shower, and again old fashioned. Breakfast was not included and at 10 euros for a very basic selection of cereals and breads was in keeping with the overall impression of poor value. No, unfortunately we could not recommend La Bonne Auberge as a place to stay.

Clean and big enough! You can use the backyard! To bad that the swimmingpool was broken, and that they not mention that on the site! Rooms are good price quality value! We are coming back!! The reccommadation of the restaurant (la ferme guichard) was perfect and What a vieuw!!!

Reviewed By sarafrithWe booked the Cedars apartment for a couple of nights mid trip. We were greeted by Charles who is the most welcoming of hosts. He checked us in with refreshments, talked us through the apartment, area and must see sights. Due to arriving on a French holiday he dropped further drinks off for us and also offers a lovely breakfast or evening meal service. He and his wife have such a lovely property. The Cedars lodge is large, has air conditioning, every amenity you could need as well as incredible views from bed through the open doors or from the huge roof terrace which has sun all day. Charles was kind enough to make restaurant recommendations and even book us a reservation. I cannot recommend Villa Du Rhone enough, thank you for such a lovely stay and your hospitality.
