Playa de Zahara de los Atunes

We normally stay in the Estepona/Sabinillas area, but have to say that the beaches are not a patch on the stunning beaches on the Atlantic Coast, especially at Zahara. Over the years this has become a popular place for beach holidays and the village of Zahara has a great night life with lots of bars and restaurants for visitors.

Have been windsurfing in Tarifa for > 20 years - so always too busy to explore The beach last week brought tears to my eyes - unsurpassed beauty, a great walk, stunning sunshine, light winds and thanks to the tail end of a depression, wondrous waves Will pay homage to this beautiful beach every visit in future

Playa de los Muertos

Reviewed By V273YOrichardb - Witney, United Kingdom

Like everyone is saying, it’s a beautiful beach but it’s a 10-15 min walk down a rocky path. I walked our baby down using a sling but we took the folding pram down for shade. The beach slopes off quite fast but it’s lovely to swim, the water looked so clean irrespective of the giant industrial site just off one end of the beach. We parked along the side of the road leading to the car park nearer the beach. Didn’t buy a ticket but noticed a sign about parking when we got back to our car later on. It’s early October so we were fine. The guy selling drinks from a cool bag must be so fit walking up and down the shingle beach and rocky path all day.

This small spots are perfect when Levante wind is blowing hard. Be sure to check the tides as these beaches are really crowded. When tide is low there is enough sand for everyone but when the tide is high probably you can get trapped on the rocks.
