July 30, 2021 Marissa Gamble

New York State has it all – booming metropolises, majestic waterfalls, mountains, wine country, chicken wings. Yes, NYC is a magnet for tourists, but an exploration of the rest of the state can be equally thrilling. The Finger Lakes Wine Region is a vision of serene waters, quaint B&Bs, and pretty vineyards. Movie buffs will love Rochester, home of the George Eastman House and one of the world’s most comprehensive film archives. On your way to Niagara Falls, stop in Buffalo to fuel up on spicy wings.

McSorley's Old Ale House

Reviewed By DougS649 - Washington DC, United States

The menu had five items or so, written on a chalkboard. There are two beers available, light and dark. (Both are great, I prefer the dark one.) There was one waiter tending to all of the crude, old, wooden tables. (He was doing an incredible job too!) We loved the place! The walls are all covered with history. This is what we think of '20s speakeasy. Leave the kids at home and enjoy yourself here like they used to in the old days!

This long established cafe/bar is ideal whether it be for a quick bite or a more leisurely lunch .It's also very handy if you just want to pop in for a quick drink with a well stocked bar whilst prowling around Soho. The staff are excellent and offer aware welcome before ensuring that you are seated and served as quickly as possible---it does get very busy ! The food choices are simple but offer excellent vale and quality--the chilli is consistently reliable.

Gotham Comedy Club

Leading comedy club and host to top talent.

Went out on Tuesday night with a group of ladies, had some beers and few snacks. The place was busy and lively. Easy to get there, organized, walked to our seats by concierge. The venue is intimate with great seating layout so everyone can have a excellent view of stage. Comics were all good in different ways. Was a great night out.

The Village Vanguard

Reviewed By L2472EBmikeg - Dundee, United Kingdom

Ok first up this is a place I've always wanted to visit as I own several albums that were recorded here. The atmosphere is intimate and friendly, sound perfect and only a one drink minimum required. It is not by any means glamorous or glitzy but would have been disappointed had it been so, as many heritage music venues are now basically tourist traps.

Step back in time at this 19th-century tavern located in midtown.

A large group of us spent the day visiting the Intrepid. Different groups of us ended up walking the neighborhood looking for something to eat. We ALL ended up at the Landmark without reservations on a Saturday afternoon. They were very accommodating. The food, the service and the decor of this Landmark Tavern of 150 years old was a great find. The owner was on premise and he was very hospitable. There is something for almost everyone on the menu. It was a great find and we’d definitely return when in the area.
