Calle Mayor

Reviewed By Kelleygirl2 - Sarasota, United States

I enjoyed walking the busy Calle Mayor, a street that links the Plaza de San Sebastian in the north with Cartagena’s town hall. The street is a “ravine-like pedestrian street paved with distinctive blue marble tiles” that runs from the cruise port past the Roman Theater and the Church of Santa Domingo. It is a typical Spanish “Paseo” where friends, families and couples take strolls together to enjoy their free time and it is where we began our walk.

Casino de Cartagena El Palacio Casa Tilly

The palace of Marquis of Casa Tilly has been at the very heart of the history of Cartagena since the early 18th century. Purchased in 1890 by the Casino of Cartagena, a private members club, it is a cherished example of Art Nouveau, retaining the traditional interior and furnishing, together with the culture, spirit and charm of the 18th and 19th centuries.
