Tikal is an ancient Mayan city. Now is a national park declared Natural and Cultural Humanity Heritage by UNESCO in 1979. Is located in Petén department to the north of Guatemala and is the biggest prehispanic settlement in the country. The population could have reached the extraordinary amount of 100,000 people during its greatest time. This charming place with its many temples, pyramids, ball-courts, and palaces helps us to understand how this city could have been in the old days. Picture in your mind how that imponent civilization raised from the grounds until becoming one of the most important cultures in the world. Spanish explorers found it completely abandoned. Don´t miss the chance to experience the wonderful feeling of being in front of the temples and pyramids that stand on the landscape as protectors of this wonderful territory. If that's not enough, walking in the jungle, hearing the birds, monkeys and other animals in their natural environment is surreal in this place.

If you are traveling to Guatemala, you have to ride with Byron! He had all of the essentials covered! He was right there for us when we arrived at the airport with a sign and everything. His vehicle was well maintained and absolutely pristine. Not only was he polite, kind and great with kids; he also spoke flawless English which helped quite a bit because my Spanish is... a little rusty. I cannot say enough good things about this experience. He went above and beyond in every way possible including but not limited to amazing knowledge of local custom and history. My wife and I have traveled all over the world and I can say I would come back to Guatemala just to see Byron again. He was that good!

We had booked transfer services to/ from Antigua while our cruise was in port. Our group all wanted to do different things once in Antigua, so we were happy to find an operator willing to get us all there an back. The Pros: We returned to the ship on time. The Cons: When we arrived at the terminal, we were immediately loaded onto a shared bus with a number of other people not part of our group. As we drove to Antigua, it became clear that the guide (who was wonderful and not at all to blame) was giving a guided tour to the other people in the bus and was not aware that our group had only paid for transportation. He did his best to accommodate us and give the other guests the tour they paid for (while trying to get us to join his tour- which would have been fine had we not already paid for other tours in Antigua). As a result of not having the transfer service that we were expecting, some members of our group had to cut their own plans short by over an hour in order for us to meet the rest of the group when they wanted to return back to port. So yes, Go With Gus got us there and back. But not without some undue stress at trying to reconfigure plans on the fly.
